I bought my 360 the night of launch, and I know I purchased Gamestop's extended warranty. I have recently been unable to play more than 15 minutes before it overheats, and this morning got the 3 red lights.

I have looked all over and can not find my reciept, does anybody know how their warranty works?

Do I need my reciept? How long is their warranty generally for?

I remember them telling me that if I had a problem they would trade me for a brand new one, and not make me wait for it to be shipped..does this sound right?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

The best thing for you do is to probably call up to Gamestop and ask them.

Typically you're going to need to have proof of when you bought the system and that you bought the extended warranty. Some companies have you call or go online to register your extended warranty, which would help you with proof of purchase. I don't know anything about Gamestop's warranties specifically, though. Unless they automatically store your info in their system, I'd say you're probably screwed.

However...if you're getting the RROD, then Microsoft's manufacturer's warranty covers it, so you might not need the Gamestop warranty. Your only option is to contact Gamestop, and if they tell you you have to have the documentation to get service, then you'll need to work through Microsoft.

Pretty sure it's just a 1-year warranty. It was probably around $50 when you got it. Gamestop can verify the warranty with your serial number, but I'm thinking it might be expired. Best bet would probably be to call Microsoft about it.

Good luck.
