OK, this may have been asked somewhere, sometime before, but a cursory search didn't turn up anything, so apologies beforehand if this is rehashing...

Does anyone else feel that the gameplan options are limiting? There's no playaction whatsoever, there's only vanilla 4-3 or 3-4 but I don't know how to install a 46 defensive gameplan or a Wing offense.

Just thinking out loud.

Flame away now.

You may find some more latitude if you explore the formations settings -- there isn't a radio button anywhere to run any of twenty setups like you describe, but you can tailor the run/pass percentages and the formations you primarily use on both offense and defense to at least approximate a fairly wide range of schemes. Again, might not be as detailed (or as simple) as you would prefer, but there are some options available.

For instance, if you run a base 4-3 front, and make heavy use of the 1-deep bump coverage scheme, that's a fair approximation of the standard 46 setup.

I think some of the terminology used in the game is different than what football fans may be used to hearing. According to the player guide, the 1 deep bump and run is the 46 zone defense. 2 deep bump n run is the typical cover 2.

As far a playaction, I haven't really looked too much into playcalling, but most QBs in real life are rated at how well they "sell the run". You would think a run heavy team could hit some home runs on playaction.
