Game 2 vs Hillside

Only one highlight for this game, and it came on my last play of the game. One of the downsides of being a defensive back is that sometimes they just don't throw the ball your way and the runs are over before you get there.

I finish off the High School tourney with 5 picks, 1 force fumble, 1 sack, 1 TD and about a dozen tackles. I am a 5 star recruit.

Let's see what my options are.

Top 5 Teams that I can start for right away
#7 Wisconsin
#9 Virginia Tech
#12 Ohio State
#15 Tennessee
#16 Cal

The Top 5 Teams I can be 2nd String for
#1 USC
#2 Michigan
#3 LSU
#4 Florida
#5 Texas

Well, I don't want to go somewhere hot. I like my weather on the cold side, so I'll scratch USC, LSU, Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Cal off my list.

That leaves Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Michigan.

My second criteria is that I have to look good in the uniform. I'm going to be seeing them a lot, so it has to be pleasing to my eyes. I hate Wisconsin's home jerseys (so they are gone). Ohio State and Michigan, they are decent. Virginia Tech's are good, but then again they did have Marcus Vick as their QB at one point, so I'm scratching them off my list.

That leaves Ohio State and Michigan. Talk about decisions...

Michigan has a 96 rated SS while Ohio State has an 86 rated SS, so my chances of starting (and the realism of starting) are much higher at Ohio State. They are already offering me the starting job.

So, it looks like I'm headed to Ohio State. GO BUCKEYES!

(Note: I am now #44, no longer #45)

Not much of an exciting game as far as I go. No throws my way, but I did end up getting in on a few running plays. I finished off my first NCAA game with 5 tackles, 2 for a loss.

Here, I run in to stuff the run after the RB evades one tackle.

Awesome! I love the dive into the end zone on the TD... that's just instinct right? Everyone who owns the game presses the dive button as they hit the end zone, I've seen a couple other TD Videos with people doing it, and i do it myself on every breakaway TD :D

On the record, I'll say that I wasn't used to the camera angle I was given, and I thought the opposing player was much closer.

Off the record, I wanted to do a flip into the endzone, but he just dove instead. :(

Week 6: Ohio State at Purdue

Another bad game from me. I was to blame for one of their TDs. I played a deep zone too shallow and the reciever got behind me and they completed a 50+ yard TD pass.

I did manage to break up one option play. Destroying the option seems to have become my specialty.

Week 9: Ohio State at Penn State

This was a huge game for us, and it's a shame you don't get to see any of it. Occasionally I'll run into a problem with not being able to save highlights. Usually I find out in the 1st quarter, turn the game off and back on. That'll fix it usually and I'm good to go. I didn't find out until the 2nd quarter, near the end, when I had my first highlight worthy play. By then, the game was just about half over, and it was a real close one. So, sorry, but I kept playing.

I had 2 interceptions in this game, one that I returned for a TD but because of a holding penalty after the interception, the TD was negated (but the INT stood). It was a close game down to the end.

It came down to the final seconds as we hit a FG as the clock runs out in the 4th quarter to win the game (and it was added to my list of Instant Classic games).

Week 11: Illinois at Ohio State

We were 10-0. We were the #3 team in the nation. We had our sights on the National Championship. If we end up beating Michigan next week, the #2 team in the nation, our trip to the BCS Championship was going to happen.

There was just one little problem....

1st Quarter, Ohio State leading 7-0, putting the big hit on the RB
http://www.brightcove.com/title.jsp?title=1125966482&channel=1080186357&lineup=-1

We jump ahead to the start of the 4th quarter. Ohio State leading 21-14.
http://www.brightcove.com/title.jsp?title=1126011575&channel=1080186357&lineup=-1

With just under 4 minutes to go in the 4th (I used 5 min. quarters, BTW), I pick up my second fumble recovery.
http://www.brightcove.com/title.jsp?title=1126003065&channel=1080186357&lineup=-1

After this, it all falls apart. We were up by 2 touchdowns, 28-14, with just 3 minutes to play. Our offense had the ball, but then they pick up a fumble and return it for a touchdown to make it 28-21. Our offense gets it back, runs some time off the clock but have to punt and give the ball back to Illinois.

We stop them. And with just 30 seconds to go in the game, our offense fumbles the ball again, and they return it to our 10 yard line. On the second play, they get it in for the touchdown to tie the game.

We go into overtime. Our offense has the ball first, and throws a pick on the first play. On their first play of OT, they throw it for the touchdown. Game over, and so are our national championship hopes at the hands of unranked Illinois. This game also got to my list of Instant Classics.

Final Score: Illinois 34, Ohio State 28 (OT)

With out National Championship hopes destroyed, we try to destroy the smae hopes for another team. No highlights from me on this game, there weren't any highlight worthy plays. Very quiet game from me. They hardly threw my way, and I couldn't really get in on any of the running plays.

Not a good game for Ohio State as Michigan jumped out to a big lead. We tried to make it close, and made a run at the end a bit, but it was too little, too late.

Final Score: Michigan 38, Ohio State 31

CAPITAL ONE BOWL: Ohio State vs. Tennessee

My first bowl game!

Here is my only highlight. As it would turn out, it was Ohio State's only highlight as well.
http://www.brightcove.com/title.jsp?title=1126011577&channel=1080186357&lineup=-1

Our offense couldn't do a damned thing, and turned the ball over 4 times. We did our best on defense, but they just got the better of us in the end.

Final Score: Tennessee 24, Ohio State 7

And on a side note, before the game, I was named to the All-American team. Both the freshman team and the 1st team.

I finished 2nd on my team in Tackles with 73 (MLB had 91), 11 of them for a loss. I had 4 interceptions (111 yards), 3 fumble recoveries, 2 of them going for touchdowns.

I had the most tackles for a Strong Safety in the NCAA (which probably is what got me on the All-American team).

And so ends my Freshman year at Ohio State.

Week 1: Tulsa (0-0) at #10 Ohio State (0-0)

No highlights from this game as I had a terrible game. Abysmal. They scored 3 TDs, all three were my fault. The first one, I was on M2M coverage, I go for the INT and miss badly as he takes it for the easy score. The 2nd, I abandoned my zone as I bit hard on the play fake. The 3rd one, I abandon my zone again on the play fake and they got it to the 1 yard line and scored on the next play.

Luckily, my team didn't need a good game from me. I have a lot of rust to work off, apparently (I have been playing as offensive players in other Legend games so I actually do have some rust to work off. :) )

Final Score: Ohio State 69, Tulsa 20

Another bad game from me so no highlights again. The good news is that I was only at fault for one of their touchdowns instead of 3. I still didn't help at all on the running game or to break up any passing plays. Had a couple of tackles, all were after pretty good gains by their offense.

They nearly tied the game with 30 seconds left. They scored a TD but missed the XP. Our offense still managed a FG at the game's end, so it might not have mattered. The game ended up as an Instant Classic.

They almost did it to us again. It came down to the final drive, but, up by just 2 points, we came up with a huge stop at midfield to keep them safe out of FG distance. Two hail mary attempts that fall imcomplete and we avenge our loss from last year.

I've finished my junior year and have been waiting to update this when I can finally get the video highlights uploaded, but everytime I think to check easportsworld to see if I can, it's down.

So, I think I'm going to go ahead and go through and give the game-by-game results so that's it out there and I can go on to my senior year. When EA figures out how to make their ebsite functional, I'll get the videos uploaded and added to the dynasty.

Week 1: Fresno State at Ohio State

An easy win for our team. I start off my junior year with a big game picking off their QB twice and taking both in for touchdowns.

Final Score: Ohio State 38, Fresno State 7

Week 2: UL Lafayette at Ohio State

Another easy game. I took my 3rd pick of the year in for another score and I forced 2 fumbles. 3 INTs and 3 TDs start getting me named in the Heisman race.

Final Score: Ohio State 51, UL Lafayette 0

Week 3: Ohio State at USC

Our first real challenge. It was a game for the first half, but we pulled away in the 3rd quarter and never looked back. I had several tackles in the game, a forced fumble and 2 INTs. My name is now at the top of the Heisman race list. After just 3 games, I have some pretty insane stats. The most tackles in the country for a DB, 5 INTs, 3 forced fumbles and 3 TDs.

Final Score: Ohio State 42, USC 21

Week 4: Oklahoma at Ohio State

We jumped out to a big lead and calmed down after a bit. It was 29-3 at the half and we coasted to a win. I had another pick in this game. I intercepted the pass in the end zone for the touchback.

Week 5: Ohio State at Iowa

A pretty easy win but this is when I started to decline. I had not highlight-worthy play in this game. After being on top of the Heisman race list for 2 weeks, I remained there after this game, but I felt uneasy about my chances if I had another game where I virtually didn't do anything.

Final Score: Ohio State 30, Iowa 13

Week 6: Northwestern at Ohio State

A back and forth game that we had to fight for to win. Another quiet game from me and I fall off the Heisman race list completely. A couple of tackles is all I could accomplish. This game came down to the end. They were driving, but when they got around our 30, our defense comes up big and stops them. They end up missing the FG attempt with seconds to go in the 4th quarter.

Final Score: Ohio State 29, Northwestern 26

Week 7: Wisconsin at Ohio State

We come back from a tough game against Northwestern and crush the Badgers. It started off close, but we got a bit ahead. Late in the 2nd, on 3rd and long, I blitz and sack their QB at the 5 yardline. They punted but with a short field, our offense socres a TD before half time to put us up 35-14. After that, we went on a run and ran the score up a bit.

Week 9: Ohio State at Penn State

We continue our domination with another destruction of a rival. Had some good tackles, but my big play was when the QB rolled out and tried to scramble. I "jacked him up", causing a fumble that was picked up and tacken for a TD by my teammate.

Final Score: Ohio State 48, Penn State 17

Week 10: Ohio State at Minnesota

Our offense didn't run the score up like they usually do, but I defense pitched a total shutout so it didn't matter. The Minn QB tried to do the same thing as the PSU QB, roll out and scramble, and I did to him exactly what I did to Penn State's QB. It had the same result, except this time I recovered the fumble and took it for the score.

Final Score: Ohio State 23, Minnesota 0

Week 11: Purdue at Ohio State

An easy win for our team but little contribution from me.

Final Score: Ohio State 51, Purdue 3

Week 12: Illinois at Ohio State

In my freshman year, this team played to role of spoiler, and with the score tied at 10 at halftime, i had a feeling it was going to happen again. However, our offense woke up and scored a few TDs in the first few minutes of the 2nd half (about the first half of the 3rd quarter) and we never looked back. Again, nothing from me.

Final Score: Ohio State 37, Illinois 10

Week 13: Ohio State at Michigan

This game has become the yearly unofficial championship game for the Big Ten conference. We came into the game undefeated, Michigan had 1 lose. It was a battle that was close the entire way. I just wish I could have contributed some note worthy play, but I didn't. I got several tackles, but nothing highlight worthy.

Final Score: Ohio State 31, Michigan 22

We finish the year undefeated, ranked #1 the entire year and headed off to our second straight BCS National Championship game. It will be a rematch of a game we played earlier in the year. USC.

BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0)
vs
#3 USC Trojans (11-1)

USC was voted #3 by the coaches' polls, but named #2 by the BCS and the Media poll.

On USC's first offensive drive, they are marching down the field when I pick off a pass at our own 19 yard line and take it back 81 yards for the touchdown. (For those keeping score, that make 2 out of my 3 bowl games in which I scored the first TD of the game. :) ).

(and here is where I'd show you that highlight if it weren't for EA's crappy servers)

At the end of the first quarter, we are up 14-6 and that's when it all falls completely apart. Suddenly we can't stop their offense and our offense can't do a damned thing.

They are out to a big lead by the half and after that, there is nothing we can do. We end our perfect seasons with a disaster of a game.

Final Score: USC 36, Ohio State 14

No controversy as the Coaches' poll named USC #1 following their destruction of us.

Since we lost the National Championship and a chance at being called a Dynasty, I was going to leave for the Pros. However, I learned that Madden does not allow uploading of highlights like in NCAA!!! So, what would be the point in going Pro (with regards to this dynasty)?

So, I decide to stay for my senior year.
