Aim me at some games so when it gets here I can get started:

Planning to purchase soon:

NCAA Football 2008
Shadowrun (I know they butchered the source, but I hear it's a fun lil shooter nonetheless)

Possibly Purchase:

All Pro Football 2K8

Future Purchase:
Rock Band.

Dead Rising is without a doubt still the most fun I've had with a 360 game. Probably can get it cheap now as well.

If you're a shooter fan both the Ghost Recon games and Rainbow 6 Las Vegas I can highly recommend.

Dola,

If you want a free copy of Project Gotham Racing 3, let me know. I got an extra copy when I picked up the force feedback wheel.

I really enjoyed Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Not the most difficult game but I had a blast with the different characters.

If you like cars and you like racing sims, Forza2 is a ton of fun.

If you get a Live subscription, you absolutely, positively have to buy Geometry Wars.

College Hoops 2k7

Ditto!

Geometry Wars makes my head hurt.

I agree with Dead Rising, but only if you have a HD tv, since the writing in the campaign is harder than hell to read on a standard def tv.

I'm enjoying Star Trek Legacy, Guitar Hero II, College Hoops 2k7 and NCAA Football 2k8 right now. I have Overlord and Oblivion on my Gamefly queue.

My top 5 right now - consisting only of games I've actually PLAYED - would probably look something like:

Crackdown
Oblivion
Overlord
Rock Band :D :D
Tomb Raider Legend

Okay, yes, the Rock Band listing is pure smartassery, but that's because that #5 spot is pretty interchangeable between a handful of games for me. There's several that I like, depending on the situation - such as the HDTV thing with Dead Rising.

On the Live Arcade front, Geometry Wars is great, Cloning Clyde is great, Marble Blast is a lot of fun, and I hear great things about Prince of Persia.

Careful with the used 360's. Im on my second refurb since the first didnt even work out of the box. Best advice is to make sure its registered in your name. If its registered to someone else it will be a pain to return and get fixed.

As for games I have liked so far:
Gears of War- beautiful in HD and a lot of fun
Forza2- you can find the game plus logitec wheel for $99
RainbowSix: Las Vegas- Especially fun to play the story mode in Coop

I would say NHL 07, but 08 will be out soon enough.

I still like MLB 2k7, especially after the patch.

I know you were a critic initially. What did the patch change that brought you back?

Dead or Alive 4! Oblivion and NCAA Hoops 2K7 are fun too.

A new camera angle that finally makes fielding normal.

My problem with MLB 2k7 is that I'm no good at it. It's a good game, the sliders make it realistic enough, but with those sliders I can't win. So, I went back to playing College Hoops and now NCAA.

As with most console games, I'm playing on AS defaults and taking the game for what it is. I play the first game in a series, then coach the other two. I've gotten alot more out of this game than I initially thought.

I might start doing that or have the game alter the sliders for me based on my skill level in a dynasty. I just can't hit...I've tried classic and the swing stick deal. I can get some hits on classic, but can't put them together for a big inning. Pitching can be a problem too, but not as bad as putting up games of 0 or 1 run.

I've used the swing stick for many games, but I have switched to "classic" as most of the time it's hard for me to get the power swing with the swing stick to work correctly. I hope they give it more control next year.

I quit playing that game online after the guy I was playing with switched from swing stick to classic in mid-game and then started taunting after he hit five or six straight homers with it.

Yeah, woo, you sure showed me with your timing-based power. Woo.

You know, for me MLB2k7 had the most fun pitching mechanic of any baseball game I'd played in quite a while. Strikeouts were a tad lower for me than ideal, but I really had a good mix of strikes/balls and can get into some really tense situations. I enjoyed that aspect immensely.

The batting on the other hand I hated. Just seems like very little variety to the hits, and it seems like for me at least it's homer or nothing.

I wish we could mix The Show's or the MVP games batting with MLB2k's pitching.

NBA 2K7 rarely leaves my 360, and that's after like 8-9 months or something. Best game of basketball ever made by a long shot.

Gears of War got a very good play through when I got it, but since I cancelled XBOX Live I don't play it much. The first time through the campaign is a blast though.

Burnout Revenge is the multiplayer fave when I have friends around, and I bought Medal of Honour 3 on the weekend because it was dirt cheap, and it's a fun little game, but not really "next gen".

Other games I have:

Oblivion - Starts out excellent, but the story really turns to crap, and the scaled enemies really sucks ass too if you like running off and exploring away from the main campaign.
Project Gotham 3 - Played it a ton when I bought it, but it's been awhile since I fired it up. Definately a good game though (best pure racer I've played), and I got it for next to nothing even 6-7 months ago.
Top Spin 2 - I love good tennis games (Super Tennis for the SNES is still one of my fave games), but never really got in to this game. It was a throw-in when I bought my 360, so nothing gained or lost with this one.
GRAW - Haven't played the sequel, but this one was great. By the time I got it there was nobody playing multiplayer, but single player campaign is fun, if insanely difficult (YMMV) at times.

The hitting really takes a lot of practice. I almost gave up on it after nearly a week's worth of evenings. It just seemed impossible.....But eventually it just kind of clicked. It takes a lot practice, but it is rewarding those first few games when you just destroy the opposing teams pitchers.
