Hey everyone. I bought FOF07 a week or two ago, been having a lot of fun but I have a question(s).

I need a good punt and kick returner on my team, I'd like to try out one of my corners but I can't see their breakaway speed ratings or elusiveness, etc.

I know there are punt and kick return ratings, but I'm not sure how much to judge that. My backup RB has a high punt and kick return rating, but he's only a 6 in breakaway speed.

I'm assuming that means he won't fumble or bobble a return but isn't really a threat to do anything with it. Or am I wrong? Does breakaway speed (elusiveness, etc) have any effect on returns?

What ratings do you look at for a returner.. especially one that's on D and doesn't have a speed rating? Or do you just go by the punt and kick return ratings?

I've just gone by Punt/Kick ratings.

I try out high rated return guys and then see if their stats match. If their stats suck, then I dump them regardless of rating. If all I got is mediocre return rated guys, I do look at using my RB (breakaway speed) or WR (big play) or CB (m2m) guys to see who can get the best stats. I have no idea if those other ratings even matter and I have never been able to draw any conclusions from it.

I try out different guys during the preseason to weed out the fumblers.

I don't think the other ratings matter. I always pick my returners by their punt and kick return bars. When you hit the recommend button, the game does that as well.

That being said, this conversation interestingly dovetails into the bars vs. stats converstation. How would you know whose stats are better if you don't try them out? I'd guess that you would want to audition returners during the preseason games and then maybe pick the person with the best stats/bars.

If you were to factor in Breakaway Speed (and I have only ever gone by PR/KR bars as well as hands - some guys fumble quite a bit) then would you also not want to take a look at Hole Recognition?
