FAFSA and its related institutions.

I just got a bill for 8K, after being told months ago that I was all paid up. Second year in a row something like that has happened.

Wait, how do you get a bill from FAFSA, which is just an application?

No, the bill is from my school. The aid package, plus what I've paid, supposedly should have me at a zero balance (actually 500 credit).

dola
This will definitely turn out to be my own fault, in that I sent the wrong form to the right address, or didn't fill something out that I was supposed to. But gaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, that's annoying.

Send them a bill for the $500 credit.

If it makes you feel any better, I just got an $18k bill (an extremely bizarre amount) and aggressive letter from a law school I am not attending while both its registrar and student accounts department insist that I am. I may enter into negotiations about what my gpa is and simply pay for the degree if they continue to be this sure of themselves.

The direct loan services website and the letters they send me both say I owe something different.

My school insisted my all my Perkins loans had been consolidated, after I tried to tell them again and again that that wasn't true. Finally I relented - and then I got a bill from them the next month.

I say all student loans should be wiped clean, so they can start the system over again.

I agree with molson.
