As I've been listening to the radio talking about preseason football, I was thinking that I almost completely ignore my preseason games. But, I was wondering if I put in all my undeveloped players and rookies in the lineups and play them nearly every snap and rested all of my veterans, would they develop that much faster for getting so much playing time? I think the AI recommends some young players to start but also recommends 50% playing time across the board.
I've never paid attention to these games (or how much they affect development) and maybe I'm missing out on a ton of extra playing (and starting) time for my young players.

Yes, you're younger players would gain a few more points of experience; however, all your vets would be extremely rusty going into the regular season and suffer from reduced performance (theoretically) for the first one or two games.

General rule of thumb I use is to start the young guys for the first two games, particularly if there's an extremely valuable veteran (like Johnny U in my historical dynasty), unless there's a starting position battle. Then I'll generally give each player two starts a piece unless one of them runs away with it early.
