Ok, so I hope I am not necessarily the only person who is going to be posting in this one.
From childbirth, I have always been rather thin for my size. Actually truthfully, I was really skinny right up until I started going to school at NIU. I came into school at 125lbs and got up to 142 when I was done. 2 years later, I am still hovering around the 137lb range. I'm not skinny-skinny, I do have an athletic body due to my participation in sports for so long.
I have been going to the gym more frequently over the past month or so, trying to go atleast 4 times a week and basically concentrating on gaining as much muscle as I can. I just recently purchased both weightgainer and some whey protein, but I'm not sure how much exactly I should be drinking per day. I think I overheard someone saying I needed to intake something like 125% of protein compared to my current weight? Anybody know if that's true?
My eventual goal is to hit 200lbs. I understand that's like a 60% weightgain but I want it to be a HEALTHY 200lbs. I am a pretty athletic guy and am hoping I can eventually grow into a decently sculpted physique. Think Brad Pitt in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
I really am trying to gain this weight just to get a bit healthier. As I said, I've been thin all my life and I just figured that now that I am getting a bit older (turning 24 in December), it's time to take care of my body before it is too late and I regret it later.
Anyways, I'm starting this thread fully aware that I most likely won't follow through on it mostly due to laziness at the gym. Simply put, I hate working out. I don't mind playing sports or swimming and my muscles getting tired from those activities but something about just sitting down and working with weights has really always just turned me off. Mainly I think it's the fact that when I go to the gym, I am almost always the skinniest guy there. I am going to try to change that now however, and maybe, just maybe starting this thread will hold me more accountable for myself.
If any of you have been in my position before, I would absolutely welcome any sort of advice you may be able to share. I understand my ultimate goal of 200lbs is somewhere off in the distance, and so I want to set a more reasonable short term goal in the mean time. Specifically for my birthday (December 11th), I want to have atleast a noticable difference. Any suggestions on what I should set my goal at? I don't want to just randomly throw out a number because I really have no idea how feasible it can be.
Oh well, here goes...
