The league office has decided to suspend Bryan Floyd of Seattle for the 2037 season.

Floyd was seen dating Amber Frey, in violation of the league's strict rule against having anything to do with the Scott Peterson trial.

Wow, speaking of May-Decemeber romance. Most NFL players probably wouldn't even think of dating a 62 year old.

conversely, if you started a historical league, and got this message in about 1985, it would be alarming as well.

Davis appeared on television with Dan Rather, in violation of the league's strict rule against manufacturing fake contract documents.

The league office has decided to suspend Dean Biasucci of Miami for the 1986 season.

Biasucci was arrested for appearing on American Idol, in violation of the league's strict anti-teen trend policy.

So, where is the outrage over this? An earlier version of FOF introduced team chemistry arbitrarily based on zodiac symbols, and a sizable faction of the FOF universe basically went apoplectic about it. Now, we have this sort of silliness, and everyone is cool with it?

I personally don't really care, I'm just surprised that the "absolute realism" group hasn't objected to this, which (like the other example) is clearly being used as a reasonable proxy.

There's a difference between "chemistry can be predicted when it shouldn't be" vs "Jim came up with some cool and fun names for suspensions, and the names don't affect gameplay one whit".

In my league, a player has just been suspended for testing positive for alcohol. I thought it was a little strange until I saw the ones listed in this thread.

Personally I would rather not see weird stuff like this, but I don't feel that strongly about it.

And for the record, I have no gripe with those who don't like the fact that chemistry stuff can be predicted (I generally disagree, but I see the merit of the argument)... my gripe (hope that was clear) is/was with those who howled about the specific meaningless proxy that Jim used to represent the grouped structure he decided to use. And there *were* people howling about the fact that he used a word like "Taurus" rather than a title like "Group 5 of 12."
