Has anyone ever expierienced this?
I woke up yesterday and had a sharp, burning pain in the side of my heel about halfway up.
Today when I woke up it was way worse, I can barely walk. I did a little research and most things say plachir fashiatis (sp?) but where the pain is isn't condusive with what the symtems are, the pain is more halfway up the heel.
Anyone ever had this?
Not saying you have this, but I have chronic tendonitis in my achilles tendons that flares up every couple months. The pain shows up any place from the calf down to the back of the heel, but it is usually along the heel. The doctors have told me mine is a result of the way I walk due to a football injury to my knee in college. I never really had problems until I got older and stopped being as active as I was in my youth. Whenever it flares up it really hurts in the morning and I can barely walk, then during the day it eases up as the muscles loosen up. I've tried several things (inserts for my shoes, sleeping with special boots that stretch the tendon at night, etc) but the best thing for me seems to be a series of stretches I do during the day and Ibuprofin. Whenever I stop doing the stretches is when it usually flares back up. I've tried seeing a specialist to adjust my gait, but all that did was make my knee hurt. :(

I had plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago. The pain for me was focused on the heel side of the arch of my foot. My understanding is that the plantar tendon runs along the arch, fron the heel along the instep to the toe. If I understand where you are saying your pain is, I think it may be something else.
I hope for your sake is isn't plantar fasciitis. It took me about 6 months for it to go away. The doc fit me for some orthotics that seem to help.

I had it too, it's incredibly painful. I ended up getting a cortizone shot in my heel after going through about a year of different treatments including inserts, orthotics, a padded brace (boot thingy)...if it lasts for more than a couple of days I would definitely recommend going to see an Orthopedist.
Good Luck!

I had plantar fasciitis also. I wanted to try some things before committing to a large dr. bill and found inserts by Walkfit that took care of my problem in a few days.

The doctor thinks its a strained achilles tendon.
He told me to stay off my feet 3 days and gave me naproxen for it.
