7.5 magnitude.
I was on the outer rings of the 7.8 that hit Manila in 1990. That was one of the worst disasters I've ever experienced.

Not sure how many there've been. I was reading a 7.7 and a couple 7.5 aftershocks, but allegedly there was a glitch in the computer that caused a triple reading or somesuch.
USGS site is showing the following, though:

Looks like a 7.5 with three aftershocks in the 5 range somewhere. That's gotta be unpleasant.

Dola,
the aftershocks are 5.9 (centered over the 7.5), 5.9, and 5.8 respectively.

Looks like it's been upgraded to a 7.9.

I agree with you. If I were to travel to a Latin American country, this would be my first choice.

Looks like it's been upgraded to a 7.9.
Also, the map I posted appears to be auto-updating, with another 5.0'ish aftershock. I'll check.

The red spot there is a 5.4 aftershock.

Hawaii is still under a tsunami advisory. Buoys off the coast of Chile have detected one.

337 dead, 1700 injured.
luckily my fiancee's family is all safe and sound in Lima. She worked for a year in Canete (very hard hit area).
one of her cousions works in Ica which is also hard hit but he is apparently safe, as well...
