Has anyone played either of these games and were either any good?

I tried Flatspace II - didn't impress at all, felt like a bad imitation of Space Rangers 2. You can get a demo for it via totalgaming.net

Never heard of Wierd Worlds.

I have played the demo for both the original Weird Worlds and Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space a while back. Both have good entertainment value due to combination of roleplaying and strategy elements in both in turn based and real-time gameplay. Get the free demo here:

And what is cool is that they have a crap load of mods for the game as well:

Also has a lot of replay value since it creates a new universe when you create a new game.

Now as far as Flatspace II, I had tried that well before Space Rangers 2 came out. I would have to agree now it is a poor man's Space Rangers and since you can now buy Space Rangers 2 for less than FlatSpace, I would go with the former. Excellent game.

I own Weird Worlds, and have the demo for the Weird Worlds 2. I actually prefer the 1st game, since it's beauty is the quick play and lack of complexity. I feel like they added a bit more in the second game, and so it took a little longer to play.

I downloaded the demo for WW2 last night. Just didn't seem like a lot to do. I zipped around to worlds, ran away from baddies, picked up items, and sold them. The demo map was tiny and the game time quite short, but it's hard to get much of a guage of how much better the full game would be.

I didn't care much for Flatspace personally. I'd go with Space Rangers as mentioned or Escape Velocity Nova perhaps. Flatspace just didn't connect with me at all.
