I'm imaging a world where Santana gets to pitch in the NL West (and faces the Giants, Dodgers, Padres and D-Backs offense consistently)- I think his ERA might well be Gibson-esque. :D

Couldn't the Zambrano extension theoretically help the Twins since Z took a deal below his market value?

Although I'm not sure it matters anyway, as Johan sounds like he wants out pretty badly. It may not have seemed like that big a deal, but from an image and and player morale standpoint, the Twins really fucked themselves with that Castillo trade. I'm afraid it might have a negative domino effect on the franchise.

I understand that at the time he signed his last deal that he was probably not financially secure, but the last deal he signed with the Twins was dumb. He could have hit the market last year, I think. But now he's going jnto next year with a 1 year deal for piddly money, not a good position to be in.

Johan is known to not like cold weather, so, I would say Anaheim or LA might be more likely destinations.
