...In a fiery car crash with a train. He's fallen so far that this is apparently barely even news. (But if Bronco Lubich gets his own thread, Griffin should too) The ultimate "should of stayed in school" guy.

Very weird to see news of a former athlete's death take a week to come out. Unfortunately, that just describes how bad this must have been. Given the way it happened, it looks like he either wanted to kill himself or was in bad enough condition where he went through a railroad warning without realizing. And if that was the case, let's be glad no one else got hurt.
He was pretty close to a legend here in NJ and big things were expected out of him when he went to Seton Hall. I don't know if you can label him like you did, but he definitely didn't have the maturity for the NBA when he left. All of this is a shame.

I remember the hype around this kid at Seton Hall. As a Big East fan I watched quite a few of his games and I really thought he was a sure-thing All-Star at the next level.
I don't think staying in school would have helped him much, honestly. He seemed to have deep rooted problems that typical maturation wouldn't have helped.
Very sad news, though.

Wow. I remember thinking that the Nets were insane for trading this guy away. Given the amount of talent he had, the time it took from him to go from "promising potential guy" to unwanted must have set a land-speed record.

Sad news, but it's really not that suprising, considering the way he apparently lived his life. Too bad the demons got the best of him(alcohol, drugs).

Sad, but come on, he is no Bronko Lubich.
