I’m With Stupid #33 – Results
I once again endeavored to make my questions tough... and had my usual mixed bag of results. Two relative runaways, one pretty good balance, and three that didn't really cluster up very much, regrettably. Alas... a few intriguing responses along the way.
#1 - Name a company brand name that has become the general word for that type of product
Kleenex 11
Coke 5
Xerox 3
Band Aid 2
Saran Wrap
Lava Lamp
Solid guesses… I actually might have thought Band-Aid would fare better, but that ignores the power of the QotM board on the FOFC consciousness. Related trivia – did you know “aspirin” was once a brand name?
#2 - Name a word that is frequently misspelled by internet users

Okay, this didn’t settle much, after all. I though “misspelled” would be the clever answer, but I would have probably said “its” myself (and struck out, obviously). Looks like we had two schools of thought, with some people goinjg for words that are deliberately misspelled in that weird l33+ speak.
#3 - Name an actor, past or present, who is/was strongly associated with one particular role
Mark Hamill 3
Sylvester Stallone 3
Clint Eastwood 2
Pierce Brosnan 2
Sean Connery 2
Leonard Nimoy
William Shatner
Jim Carrey
Robert DeNiro
Matthew Broderick
Lawrence Olivier
Marlon Brando
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Christopher Reeve
Anthony Hopkins
Tough question – again so much so that it failed to really reward anyone much. I like Mark Hamill, and had not thought of him. But for his injury, I think Christopher Reeve might have been a top vote-getter – but now his associations are more varied, I’d say.
#4 - Name a song that everyone knows the words to, other than patriotic, holiday, or birthday-related songs
The alphabet song 3
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 2
YMCA 2
Auld Lang Syne
Jack and Jill
We Are The World
Imagine
Friends in Low Places
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Let It Be
Hotel California
Old MacDonald
Respect
Free Fallin’
Margaritaville
London Bridge
Take Me Out To The Ballgame
1,000 Bottle of Beer on the Wall
Who Let the Dogs Out?
Another stumper… very varied responses again, and again different schools of thought. I think the children’s idea was the winning direction, but some good ones got lost. Tough to come up with one popular song that fit well, though I might have guessed Hotel California might have gotten a few.
#5 - Name a Spanish-speaking country in South America
Argentina 12
Colombia 6
Brazil 3
Chile
Peru
Well, I put in the qualifier to keep Brazil from being a runaway, and I did expect Argentina to be the “right” answer here. I got about what I expected here – I think this is a pretty “pure” IWS-type question, honestly.
#6 - Name a quarterback who is currently looking for an NFL job
Kordell Stewart 19
Jake Plummer 3
Jim Miller
Our favorite “athletical” signal caller gets the top billing here, and by a larger margin than I expected… I had hoped to craft the question broadly enough to get a few incoming rookies in the mix of responses (Carson Palmer, etc) but apparently failed there. Slash it is.

And so, once again, the IWS contestants join and say: ”Who was that Masked man?

The mantle is yours for #34…
