I've played countless games of BBCF with all kinds of teams, from USC & Michigan to Troy & Louisiana Monroe. So I decided to fire up a single player game again with Bowlig Green and much to my surprise I found the best QB I've ever had under center with any BBCF team.

Ronald Russell was a Sophmore who rated 4.5/4.5. That in itself isn't too impressive, and he wasn't even that great of a thrower but he was a dual threat in every sense of the imagination.

Our team was awful. My RB was rated 1.5/3 and my top two WR's were 2.0/3.0. The OL had one guy at 2.5 and everyone else was 1.5 or 1. So our team was awful.

Russell showed he was special by Beating Boston College single handedly (throwing for 3 TD and rushing for 2) and after that just rolled us to a 13-0 season and a 6th seed in the Playoffs where we lost to eventual champions Penn State. Russell would only throw for 2365 yards and 18 TD but his 1204 yards rushing and 8 TD made our offense lethal and lead us to (for us) a solid recruiting class that gave us 8 freshman starters total on both sides of the balls.

The next season, Russell's completion % went down to a mediocre 54.4 but his TD's went up to 29 and he still ran for 800 yards and 11 TD leading us to another 13-0 season, but another loss in the playoffs took the steam out of our sails.

So come the off-season, we recruit another solid class but we learn Russell is going to the NFL Draft. Thankfully, we had a transfer QB from Michigan come in and he is now 5/5 but still not in the realm of Russell. But now we're in our third year, sitting at 8-1 (with a loss to Alabama) and riding a 23 game Mac Winning streak.

This is our top team yet but next year we'll only get better. But it's all in part to our two year QB who lead us to a 26-2 record and has us knocking on the doorstep of the National Title Tournament.

Just had to post because this has been the most fun I've had playing solo player in BBCF and I can't wait to keep going.

Did you recruit him, or was he generated with the game?

Game generated which makes it that much crazier.

I can never recruit in this game. Don't know why, just can never get any better it seems.

What level team are you using?

Dola

I have a DE who is only a 2.0/3.5 rated guy but he had 18 sacks my past season, and 8 through 9 games this season. I am wondering if anyone knows the correlation with sacks?

I am assuming it's based solely off OL vs DL and the Mac has awful OL's but I am not sure.

I think for a DE you would look at his ratings in things like pass rush moves, aggression, speed, maybe one or two other things. 18 is a lot of sacks, though. Is the MAC a pass-happy conference in your world?

Well, I don't have much fun starting as a good team, so always lower level teams. My main career I have played I started out as North Texas, and actually did ok I thought, even in recruiting. Then I took a job at Boise State and didn't do as well, but well enough to get a job offer from MWC bottom feeder New Mexico. At New Mexico I couldn't get the quality of guys I was getting at North Texas.

Even at North Texas it was a special time when I got a player who had a 3 potential, and that was after 5-6 years and 3 bowl appearances (2 wins).

To an extent it is. I should note my other DE is 3.0/3.5 but my DT's are both 1.0/1.5. I run a 5-2 D, so my thinking is my DE is getting a lot of single blockers and just bull rushing them.

When I use a small team, I always (ALWAYS) pitch playing time to my recruits. It's all I ever pitch. Then I start by offering to the best 10s even if there are better 9's. And I work my way down. It's tough cause you gotta' win too, so my thought is schedule lightly (plus a Texas or Oklahoma) and try and keep winning 7-8 games while slowly adding 3 star guys. Play all your freshman and don't RS them.

A true frosh QB for LSU just won the Heisman. He's scary good. Puts my QBs in comparison.

I played a SP career as Bowling Green, once. I recruited a 2 star wide receiver, that showed up on my roster highly rated for THROWING. I moved him to quarterback, just to see what would happen. He had a ridiculous run as a 4 year starter, passing for around 3000 yards every year.

That's my favorite thing about this game, finding those hidden gems. In the fofc-bbcf, I did the reverse, recruited a 2 star quarterback (Anthony Jones (http://www.fofc-bbcf.com/league/playercard/player21020.htm)) that I think will make a good receiver. He's just 1.0/2.5 right now, but what I've noticed is that players sometimes jump up the year after switching positions, so I'm still mildly optimistic that I've found a star.

Agreed. Recruiting in BBCF is just a lot better in TCY cause I get attached moreso to my players. William Davis in FOFC-BBCF is my Hero.
