Check out this high school prank done in Columbus last weekend. This was a game between Darby and Davidson....Two big rivals. A kid got the other teams parents to hold up signs that spell out "WE SUCK"

Kyle Garchar, 17, a Davidson senior, received an in-school suspension and was banned from school activities for a semester for orchestrating the prank.
...
Darby won the game 21-10.

Seems a bit harsh for a prank that caused no propery damage, didn't pick out one person or small group of people for humilation, and was completely non-violent.

Seems more detention-worthy to me. Though I guess if the in-school suspension was only for a day or so, then it isn't that bad. And I have no idea if not getting to be in school clubs for a semester matters to this kid or not.

I was kind of thinking the opposite, that he was lucky he didn't get a lot worse.
With a little creativity and depending upon local law this could have conceivably been criminally prosecuted as something such as interference with government property. I'm sure it varies from place to place, but here that carries a sentence of not less than one year nor more than five years imprisonment.

All things considered, seems to me like he skated pretty clean.

In this day and age? Yeah, he got off clean.

In the world of reality? This isn't deserving of anything more than a "Nice job kid, we'll get you back next year"

I think it's pretty pathetic he got anything at all.

You're probably right.

But that's just sad.

Handing out pieces of construction paper is illegal, how?

My assumption was that he replaced the intended materials for a legitimate card stunt rather than going with the apparent method of posing as someone from the victimized school (as looked to be the case in the bit of the video I watched). Just seemed kind of unlikely that he could have gone that route at a high school game since you're dealing with a smaller population than at a university where people tend to be more anonymous.

Not very original, is it.

The game was played at Crew Stadium, so it wasn't played at either of the local schools. I'm sure that made it much easier for him to do this without people getting very suspicious.

As a Columbus native, even though I dislike Davidson as my former HS (Grove City) was in the same division as them, this was very well done.

EDIT: As an aside, Grove City is playing Buford, Georgia this weekend in the Kirk Herbstreit Class, and I know we have a bunch of Georgia HS fans on here, so what kind of team (who are their best players?) is Buford?

The popular prank around here is to burn your school's initials in your rival's turf...around the 50 yard line. By comparison, this seems pretty creative and non-permanent.

I was about to say that it seemed very similar to something I had seen before...

Although I don't follow things quite as closely as I used to I guess, the Wolves should be pretty darned good on defense.

Ranked #1 in Class AA, they're led by DT Omar Hunter (6'0", 300 lbs, school record for bench press, committed to Notre Dame), and LB T.J. Pridemore (son of former Falcon Tom Pridemore, committed to GT, after more than a dozen offers including WVU, Tennesse, both Miss. schools, NCSU, S.Carolina, and Duke). Offensively, one of the RB's has given his D-1 committment - Demetris Murray to South Florida - would have been two, but Alex Hunt (Indiana) transferred to another area high school earlier this year.

Also found a quick thumbnail of the team at http://hsgeorgia.scout.com/2/673016.html

It may be a different year, but it’s the same ole story in Buford with the Wolves once again poised to bring home a AA Title. Defense is the strength of this group with talent everywhere led by senior DT Omar Hunter in the middle and outstanding LB T.J. Pridemore behind him. In all, 6 starters return from a unit that allowed less than 10pts in 9 of their 12 contests a year ago. Offensively, Coach Simpson’s squad will have to replace 7 starters but that doesn’t mean they lack talent. Senior QB Twoey Hosch will lead the attack and FB Tyler King could prove to be one of the best lead blockers in the state. Firepower could come in the form of little guy Cody Goetz who has created a lot of buzz around the Buford program with his speed and ability to take it the distance.

Hope that helps.
