The best hit of the week has already happened.

Note - profanity the last 15 seconds.

Lee Corso is a tool.

Hoping watch the Huskies put up a good fight against Iowa today. Screw Bsak and his 31-0 prediction.

Good lord that's getting ugly. I have absolutely no love for UAB, but a score like that reflects badly on the conference...

This always seems to happen week 1 - maybe it has something to do with big programs looking past the small programs, whereas the small programs have been waiting all summer for that one game. Michigan should still win handily, but it's got to be pretty funny in that dressing room right now.

Hopefully USC doesn't fall into that trap against Idaho. Freshman center starting for the first time in team history btw.

DOLA - ECU coach chewing his QB out on the sideline needs to get a fricking clue. It's a horrible throw, but the kid is in his first ever start, only found out he would be starting 2 days ago and you have him throwing under pressure out of the end zone?

I think its more that Michigan sucks whenever they play a #1 team.

Yeah, the OL situation is the only thing I'm a bit nervous about for the season, but even with the injuries, we should blow Idaho out and anything less will be disapointing.

The Buffs are going down. Go Rams!

It wouldn't shock me if the Buffs still go down, but I'm happier than hell with the first half. Cody Hawkins can play a little. The offense is so much better now that we have a QB who can throw the ball more than four yards down the field.

The defense still sucks. We'll still only win 5 or 6 this year, but it's going to be more enjoyable than last year when getting 150 yards of offense in a game was cause for a celebration.

Disagree. You have to get on him for failing to recognize a basic coverage scheme.

Goodness gracious I'd love to see ECU pull this off. The only way I see it happening is if VT keeps helping them do it, but I'd love to see it.

edit to add: Just heard Bill Curry mention that Steve Shankwiler is the OL coach at ECU. Most of my hopes for the upset just went out the window. After leaving GT he spent a couple of years coaching the HS team that I did radio for. I wouldn't want this idiot coaching on Saturday mornings at 9am at the pee-wee league much less in college.

Clever onside kick by the Rams: Kicker kicks a linedrive at the nearest Buffalo, who has his back almost turned to the kicker. The ricochet is a live ball, which the kicking team is ready for, and they recover. Rams are up 21-17 right now.

I remember what a helpless feeling it is to be losing to a 1-AA team. A week after Rutgers' huge opening season win against Michigan State in 2004, we just couldn't stop Ricky Santos and New Hampshire.

Ben E Lou

Oh man...salsa con queso. Good thing it's not that, I would have a lot of trouble getting rid of pure ecstasy.

I'll eat damn near anything when it's fresh, but as soon as questions pop up about freshness, I get really skittish and usually err on the side of caution. I'm eating my baked Tostitos plain now. Problem is, they're the "scoop" variety, which is like a big tease at this point.

I imagine so, but I also imagine that the historical overestimation of the value of anything associated with the Big 10 extends to their network ad rates as well ;)

More seriously though, they launched with 18 million subscribers after reaching an 11th hour deal with Insight, which really isn't bad for what is basically a regional sports network that'll have viewers only a quarter of the year.

Guys on ESPN earlier were saying that they couldn't find a 1-AA team beating a Top 25 team, so it's certainly possible.

ESPN said #20 Baylor lost to Lamar in 1981, that was the only 1-AA over a ranked team they could find (or maybe Lamar was division 2), and this would seem to be a bigger upset than that.

Not quite at Chaminade-Houston level, but I can't think of any college football equivalent.

For an outsider Michigan was a contender but if you follow the program you know how much question marks there were coming into this season. A few returners on defense and lost our three year starter kicker. Yes the offense coming back was a whos who of potential first and second round picks, but everything else was questionable you couldn't conceivably convince me anyway they were gonna win the NC let alone be in the game.

With the win, and their dominance last year, they're the most high profile 1-AA team ever, probably.

This may be a stupid question, but I'm curious, is it possible for a lower-tiered bowl with an at-large bid to invite them?

I realize they're committed to the 1-AA tournament, but lets say the schedule allowed both?

First off...App State might be good but we are talking about going into Michigan and knocking off either the #1 or #2 program in the history of college football. That easily ranks as the greatest upset in college football history.

Secondly, Lloyd Carr should either resign right now or he should be fired right now. He's lost every big game they've played the last several years and this is the final one. His time is done and it should be as of the moment the kick was blocked.

I'd have to disagree with you. Two-time defending I-AA champ or not, this is a program that lost to NCSU last year 23-10 before winning their title. The previous season they lost to Kansas 36-8 and LSU 24-0 before winning their title.

This is pretty hard to defend for any legitimate D1 team.
