Anyone else getting super annoyed by Lou Holtz? How much worse does this have to get before they take him off the air? I like what he has to say sometimes, but his lisp is just too annoying. There are plenty of ex college coaches/players they can pick from. C'mon ESPN.. you can do better!

Way to mock one of the greatest minds in the history of college football, not to mention a tremendous motivational speaker for his handicap.

I'd rather listen to Holtz (even if he is a ND homer) than most of the announcers they have on ESPN. The guy has a ton of football knowledge which is more than can be said of many of ESPN's on air personalities. Most people with speech impediments are too afraid to speak in public. Holtz is a role model for those people.

It's more than just an annoying lisp -- it's very difficult to understand what he's saying. When lurker watches college football with me and he comes on, she always talks about how she has no idea what he's saying.

I am not mocking him, it just takes me a second longer to understand what he is saying. You need a clear voice to speak on radio and television.

Bring on Shannon Sharpe!

Lloyd Carr would be a nice addition. :)

ShaneTheMaster:

Since you have my name, and also run a Bengals FOF team, please for the love of God correct your signature and spell Cincinnati the correct way, thanks. :)

I'm on-and-off with Holtz. I like how he pokes fun at himself easily, doesn't play favorites, and doesn't act like the usual talking heads. On the other hand, his lack of presense is irritating.

ESPN can't get rid of him because as soon as he leaves, the NCAA will put them on probation for 3 years.

The lisp annoyed me a tiny bit at first, but now I'm over it. I like Holtz.

I like Lou because he (unlike many schlubs on the sports channels) actually knows what he's talking about. He does pull his punches a bit (Carr shouldn't be fired???/?) but I like that when he gives his opinions he also provides insight on why he believes it.

I like Mark May also, and like them together. And to the Trev Alberts crowd (I know you were just being contrary), :shudder: !!!

holtz was a cheat who somehow has gotten a free pass his entire career. his analysis is the same old lukewarm ex-coach schtick, although this beats his old coaching pressers with the mighty enemy routine: "I'm very concerned about navy, I've been watching tape and they have one of the best punters we'll see all year!"

A great impression of Lou Holtz giving a pep talk to Nebraska.

Three months later and I'm still amazed that people think Holtz speaks normally.
