Black College Football Game Announced
The PC sports title will feature teams from historically black colleges and universities.

September 5, 2007 - Nerjyzed Entertainment, a Baton Rouge, La.-based developer, is working on a new sports game called Black College Football Experience using a five year license the company has secured with three conferences of historically black colleges and universities as well as individual schools.

The PC game is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and will feature more than 40 teams, bands and mascots; interactive halftime shows; realistic stadiums; play-by-play commentary; and ten authentic "Classics," Nerjyzed said in a news release Wednesday.

"Nerjyzed Entertainment was founded by a veteran team whose mission is to create positive interactive products for the urban market," said Jacqueline Beauchamp, chief executive officer of Nerjyzed Entertainment, Inc. "As HBCU alumni and black college football enthusiasts, we're proud that BCFx honors our rich tradition and provides an incredibly fun football game for the whole family to play."

The game is set for a November release and will be shown during an upcoming 12-week promotional tour to HBCU campuses.

Interesting...

If they could capture the real feel and atmosphere for an HBCU game, this could actually be pretty damned cool.

Judging from the screenshots I've seen, they might as well call it Blaximum Football.

I saw an ad for this earlier. I dunno whether I think they'll be able to pull it off in short order. I mean, the teams might be a little better. But save for that? So we get better band routines? I'd like it a lot better if it were some sort of weird sports/music hybrid that let you do more with the bands. That would appeal to geeks, sports fans and former band members too.

But what I see here just seems like a watered-down version of another game and the graphics didn't look that great.

But hey, if it gets those schools a few more bucks by licensing their names out, I suppose it's no big deal.

Reverse racism is always a good thing, IMO.

How is this reverse racism? The phrase 'Historically Black College' when referring to a group of schools is no different that using the phrace 'BCS schools' when referring to the SEC/ACC/etc collectively.

...and if you don't think there's a niche market for the game, I don't know if you understand the following that SWAC & MEAC schools have when compared to other Div I-AA schools.

Apparently, you can actually participate in the band routines in this game. Obviously, I don't know about the quality of this feature, but this could turn into a drum major simulator, just like Maximum Football is a clothing design simulator.

I hope this game does well, but I just don't think it's going to get much of a chance.

I'm sure the game would be treated the same way if it was a game about white colleges, too.

I went to a black college but painted my face and skin everyday so I could fit in.

Hilarity ensued when I played basketball.

Good luck building a winner with Duke.

This got me thinking... we should come up with an NFL all-white and all-black team. I think that would be fun, and not racist or anything.

Only if we can figure out a way for them to play each other. I mean, besides Jason Sehorn, who the hell else will be able to keep up with anyone? Tim Dwight gonna turn into a shutdown corner?

We can sim it in Madden or FOF or something. It won't be ultra-realistic, but could be funny.

I never thought about DBs... I can't think of a white DB I'd want starting for me right now. Better start looking at rosters...

If you got go to NFL.com, you can sort my position... and then you can mouse over an icon to see their picture! I saw a few white DBs, but they don't look too good.

You want him to coach, then just go ahead & crown his ass.

If you want him to coach, then he can coach. I think coaches should be decided once we have actual teams though. If the white team has crappy RBs and a crappy O-line, I don't know that Mike Shanahan would be a great choice.
