Uafasach - 25 - DM/Regen Scrapper : Hopefully 26 a little later this afternoon. :) This guy will see 99.9% of my playing time until 50 most likely. While I've yet to completely flesh out his RP backstory, I'm completely loving playing him. Having said that, I have no problem sidekicking/exemplaring<sp?> him to help anyone out. Basically point him at something you want dead, give him a little bit of time to punch the heck out of the bad guys face, rinse and repeat. ;)

Oh, and beware, Uafasach is a bit vain, and very much a fashion whore. I blame it on insane luck with costume piece drops (5 so far). I think I'm lucky to go a day without changing something on one of his two outfits.

Third Man In - 2 - Ice/Ice Tanker : Will get some levels into him once I plan out the build a bit more. A completely gimmick character based on my love of old school hockey thugs. Will have fun RPing this one.

some zones are rougher on pcs than others, also if you group with a bunch of master minds you can get all kinds of lag espcially in an archanos base mission map(at least it seems to lag me all to heck anyways)

What is a costume piece drop? I had a couple of dual-origins drop, and one was called visor, but is that a costume drop? Does it change your appearance?

The costume piece drops are recipes that add more options in the clothes store. Some of the pieces can sell for a couple mil, but my vanity got the better of me and I created them. So far I've gotten the Tech wings, Piston boots, Wing boots,rocket boots, and one other wings set, I think demonic or draconic.

The last is what helped me go a different route with my backstory using a look designed with the wings as my "true form" from another plane. Decided it was a bit more villainous than heroic and scrapped that as one of my looks, but am fleshing out the backstory it inspired a bit and going to see if it sticks. :)

Edit to add:

If you do get a costume drop and want to sell it, *do not* create the recipe and then try to sell it. Once the recipe is created, the item disappears and option is added to your store. also, its just for that character and not a global addition.

How much did they cost to make?

Can't remember offhand. I think they ranged from 15000 to 30000 inf, but I may be way off. Some of the salvage tends to be pricey at the moment for some of them but you can luck out and get them on the cheap (as I'm a packrat I actually had all but one item and it was cheap enough.)

If you ever need a particular piece of salvage or some inf, just let me know. I'm far from rich, but I'm hooked enough on the game I make the money back quick enough. The benefit of going with just common IOs until I can figure out the insanity that is IO set bonuses. Although sometimes I make up for it with all my damn outfit changes. :)

Here's an idea - how's about everyone join a FOFC global chat channel?


Right click on the chat tab, select Edit Tab.

Select Join Channel.

In the Pop-up Box, (might be hidden underneath the Edit Tab box, move it around if you don't see it), type FOFC.

That's a Global setting, so from now on all your characters will join the FOFC channel on login. However, they won't have the channel added to the existing chat tab - you still need to go through the Edit Tab dialog on each new character to add the channel to the ones displayed.

Alternatively, you can create a new tab just for FOFC chat - although I don't think there'll be so much that it'll be a problem.

Talking on a global channel is simple, you can either set the channel to your default through the Edit Tab dialog, or just use "/send [channelname] message". I.e.

/send FOFC Werewolves Rule!

To make things simpler, there's a handy key-bind:

/bind numpad0 beginchat /send FOFC [$name]

This binds the 0 on your number pad (feel free to use other keys if you don't like that one), to "/send FOFC [$name]". As long as the keyboard focus isn't in the chat bar, hitting numpad0 will move it there, and pre-pend "/send FOFC (whatever your current charname is)" People often use the $name in global channels because your default identifier in the global channels is your global chat handle, which doesn't tell anyone what you're currently playing.

A block into 29 now, funny thing is I got 29 on that hell mission in croatoa. I knew I'd fail, so just went around killing as many as I could before the 30 escaped.

Will probably start sleeping mornings so I can catch some of you guys playing at night now. Will miss having my run of the zones though as its pretty quiet in paragon city in the afternoon. :)

Oh, and any younger characters (10-14 range) who haven't done the "Rescue Missing Fortune Teller " mission, if you don't mind a slightly over-leveled scrapper tagging along (would even exemplar down to lend a hand) it would be appreciated as the spelunker badge is all I have left to earn my Atlas medalion. Sure its only 5 endurance, but every little bit counts. :)

We used to be on Victory, but that made the game less fun for me, since I always found it very difficult to find a teammate, which has never been a problem on Virtue. It can get really slow, especially when you're in Atlas Parkwith tons of other characters. But when you get to the other zones, it's much less of a problem.

Well, reached 30 last night with "The Courageous Lone" Uafasach. :) Most of it being gained hunting with Keiran once again. (Can't thank ya enough, I blast through missions with ease when I have the big blue tuna can at my side. I might even have to kick the difficulty up a couple more notches when we're teamed.)

Got myself hasten,which so rocks.. Smooths out my self-imposed gimped attack chain. Didn't want to dip into a power pool attack knowing I could make it to 32 without it even if not the most efficient. Didn't really want to build for a respec not knowing if I would ever get a group to do the respec trials.

Anyways, the most important feature of 30. The third outfit! Woot! I have my hero gear, my normal citizen gear, and now the new and improved "Heavy Armor" gear. The new gear will be busted out for Rikkti attacks when dealing with heavies/bombs and any other missions dealing with either big robots, or other huge firepower bad guys. Might also have to use it for any natural hostile environments if there are any zones like that. :)

Well, off to play my mastermind. A fun character even if insanely overpowered. And yes, I am hopelessly addicted to the damn game now.

I think it'd be pretty cool for us to pick a day and time each week (or every other week) to all play at once, starting with fresh characters, like make it a regular thing, but the characters we create be only for that purpose (i.e. no soloing to screw up the levels.)

I can play most evenings. I don't think it would be necessary to start brand new characters, but we could pick some and designate them as not soloable. The exemplar\sidekick system works really well for getting people up to roughly the same levels.

i usually play 3:30pm est till 5:30pm est mon-thurs and sometimes a quick mission or two before work, the next couple days i will be working late so i probally will not be around. Weekends is up in the air. Sometimes i will go on a gaming marathon (wife going out with mom i got nothing on tap) other times i won't even sit down in front of my pc all weekend.

I created Waterloo last night, who is now a Level 3 Science/Defender. Waterloo suffers from short mans disease and feels the need to engage in very unimpressive hand-to-hand combat regularly to augment his less-than-fearsome bow attacks and bevy (can a level 3 character really have a bevy???) of stun attacks.

I've also got a pair of characters from years ago on this server - levels 11 and 14, think they are scrapper and blaster, but don't remember the other details. So if those characters are more compatible with playing with the group I'll bring them back from the dead.

I have to say, for such a young hero, Waterloo handled himself quite well this morning during the alien invasion. Was a risky one too, quite a few heavies showed up. Keep this up and you'll have your watchman badge in no time.

It is going to be tough for me to give this game up after the two week trial ends - I really enjoyed the heck out of it last time and it remains a blast now. I'm also surprised by how much I had forgotten about this game, but slowly they are coming back to me.

I've had conversations about this with FOBLers who played a couple of years ago. The CoX devs have really added a LOT to the game. They do a great job of keeping it fresh IMO.

Agreed. The consignment houses, police scanner, Ritki evasion, salvage, recipes was not there the last time we played. And even the balance of the game has changed dramatically. It is nice to know I can solo with a Blaster fairly well. That wasn't the case the last time we played (two years ago). And I am sure there are many more undiscovered new things as well.

Hit 33 in the invasion in King's Row I was running off too when we parted ways. :)

Yeah, the drops from my younger level invasions gave me the starting capital to make some money working wentworths. Buy low/sell high can really make the cash quick (Made 3 mil or so in a half hour my first time doing it.), you just have to use the info on the last 5 sales wisely. Heck you can make a lot just by vendor dumping some of the recipes people put up.

I'm pretty much always broke now (comparatively that is.) because I'm too lazy to work the market and my numerous visits to Icon. God help me when I unlock more costume slots. ;) Just dumped 300k on a new look just to use my new cherub wings drop. Doubt it will last more than a day or two as it looks like something out of a bad anime... or something one of the "MRP"ers in Pocket D would think up. heh

CoV itself, the renovated Pocket D, more rail stops, veterans rewards, Croatoa, Faultline, PvP zones, archery/sonic sets, though some of these might have been around when you stopped. Lots of costume options too. Oh, more varied missions (lead captives out, many of which fight with you).

Blasters are being looked at actually. _Castle_ posted a thread on their forums looking for ideas for reworking defiance, which isn't as effective as they'd planned.

That bank mission was a lot of fun... it helps having area effect spell it really came in handy.

Re: bank missions. You can get additional time for each wave of "looters" that you down, and the bosses (Tesla Princes in Fozzie's case) give side missions (store robbery, jail breakout, arson, bombing) that give even more time. Each different map has an exploration badge and each level range awards a different temp power (the lowest two are a jump pack and a rocket pack - great pre-14 and also for speedsters lacking vertical mobility).

Soon after was called on duty for a hectic mission in the hollows with Thalgor and Galeanna, much carnage ensued. The gang leaders and their crews were brought to justice.

During our crime fighting we had the pleasure of being present when Galeanna gained a security level. *wipes tear from eye* Does this heart good to see a young scrapper rising through the ranks. Also, remind me never to upset Thalgor, he's a crack shot... I'd be down before I even saw him coming. ;)

The badge was from my previous play - think it was something that was awarded to people who had stuck around long enough (and paid NCSoft enough money) prior to bases being added to the game. It said that I would be able to add weapon racks, or something along those lines. When I clicked on the "Use Badge" I got a message about an item but didn't see any changes in inventory or anything at the base.

I've got a couple of other badges from previous play - good for some outfit changes and re-specs.

This guy hasn't gotten nearly as many badges - somewhere in the 10-15 range based on exploration, trading, beating up certain foes, missions, etc.

The SG leader just needs to go by the registrar to start the base. But it won't help you with inventions salvage* and recipes directly, as those can't be stored in a base. There's off-character storage facilities (in Pocket D, King's Row east of Blue Steel, possibly other places) where you can store salvage, and you can store salvage and recipes at Wentworths.

*Inventions salvage is the only one where carry space is usually an issue. Base/other salvage doesn't count towards the Inventions salvage limit, but can also be stored in a base.

At Level 7 you ought to be able to go pretty much anywhere that the rest of the group is visiting - Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, and Hollows. I don't think anyone has stuff in Perez Park and Steel Canyon/Skyway City are just a little beyond where we are at as a group right now.

I'll probably jump on sometime around 7:30 - 8:30 PM (CST). I've been playing until sometime in the 11-12 timeframe, basically depends on what time I need to be up the next morning.

Also, your initial missions are based upon your background choices. So if you are playing solo then you will get very different initial missions, combating different groups (maybe Clockwork instead of the Vahz, for example).

Of course, when you start grouping with others, the missions all start to get blended together. So they will become somewhat repetitive - but that normally isn't that big a deal when you are learning about new power sets and fun stuff like that.

So what is the verdict for teh FOF base? I realize was have access to the Grail base, but if we should want to use a hospital or a lab, or even storage, we won't have access to do that until we have a base of our own.

I just keep joining 6 to 7-man teams running around and doing missions. Tons of XP by just doing that. :)

I'm up for some Perez action as well. I've had a couple of missions to hunt Hellions in there already - between missions and encounters that is probably a pretty good place for our group based on current levels right now.

Do you have the Fortune Teller mission? I recall their being a badge or some item reward associated with that one ...

As far as the levels go, it isn't that big a deal to have some kind of spread on levels for the characters with the sidekick/exemplar options. Especially once people get their travel powers (Level 14, assuming you go down that path) the level differences really stop mattering, to a large extent.

If I end up extending beyond the two week trial on this I'll almost certainly be breaking in new alts that will be way lower than you guys - lower level guys catch up quickly, as Neon is demonstrating.

You download and run it in the background while you are playing and it collects all sorts of information like your avg. damge stats, total damage, injuries and a million more.

During our last 44 minute session I was hitting haymake for an avg. of 41.78 dmg per minute, 2506.73 per hour. Haymaker was my LEAST percentage for accuracy hitting only 68% of the time, while Brawl hit 100%.

I always assumed everyone was using herostats. :) I use it to track my badges, plus gather quickly what type of attacks my enemies are using so I can adjust tactics/insp. usage if needed.

That fortune teller mission, the bane of my existance. If anyone is ever doing it and notices me on, please let me know as I need to get that one done and can no longer get the mission. *grovels*

On a side note, if anyone would like to add tech or insect wings to their costume, let me know. I just got a bunch of repeats of costume drops and wouldn't mind seeing them put to use rather than just sold at market. I'll even throw in the components/inf. needed for the combine and an SK/escort to the university and tailor in Steel canyon if needed. :)

Me being the badge whore that I am... and closet power gamer... (How much longer to level at my current rate of experience gain? It tells me...must download now.) made it pretty much a quick download for me. It also keeps running counts of all bad guys arrested and drops aquired.Not only it track your dps, but the dps of each power. Also has an ingame tracker that tells you exactly how much longer a buff will last, and when it will recharge.

Throw in the ability to save and parse anything sent to any chat window and you can do some pretty neat stuff with it. :)

Some people consider it cheating, and I do understand that point of view, but it enhances my enjoyment of the game so much its hard to go without at least the out of game info tracking.

I can certainly see it being useful - especially in determining type of damage coming in to pop toggles accordingly. I wouldn't consider it cheating either. Just never really looked into it (heard it was out there, that was about it).

I do have to admit, it looks pretty nice for number crunching.

In other news, Neon dinged 13 last night after we met up with Senor Bug for some hunting in Steel.

I would love to take on the Frostfire mission either tonight or Saturday night if people have time. It is a Level 12 mission and I'm closing in on Level 14, so I would like to get it out of the way before I out-level it. Back when I was Level 9 doing this mission I picked up about 1.5 levels on this mission alone - it is a long one, but a lot of fun with a big group.

I've been playing higher toons, actually. :o My Inv/EM tank Oro Liquido made 50 the other day, and I've picked up my Mind/Kin troller Blue-Agave again (42.5). So I've been portal hopping a lot.

I would love to do the taskforce as well. That one will take substantially longer - would recommend a Saturday or Sunday for that, as the task forces usually run 4-8 hours.

I thought the same thing at first, but after checking around and finding so many people using it, and fan sites(badge and info tracking based) using it as their main automated engine, I felt it was a safe enough bet it wasn't a pw stealer or other nefarious app.

Also, I *think* the source is available for you to compile yourself. I might have to look into that a bit more myself as their is some functionality I'd love to add.

Just makin people paranoid. HeroStats is almost certainly safe. I don't bother myself, just because it's pretty pointless information from my point of view...
