I had a brilliant idea to make chocolate-dipped chocolate chip cookies. I suck at baking though, so I just bought some good cookies and a couple blocks of chocolate (one dark, one milk.)

I set up a double boiler and threw the chocolate in, but after melting it never got thin enough to where you could dip the cookies in. I added some milk and stirred, it seemed to help so i kept adding a little milk and stirring until i got to a good dipping consistency.

Now after this I still had half a pot of chocolate dip. I am not one to waste chocolate, so I threw it in the fridge. One day later the chocolate has not hardened to more than a creamy fudge-like texture. It is however DELICIOUS! It tastes like fudge! Good fudge!!!

probably would be closer to a Ganache than a fudge.

You made fudge. The chocolate you used likely had sugar and cocoa butter in it, and that created the crystals of fudge. To make ganache, you boil milk and then crumble in bitter dark chocolate. Ganache is usually then flavored with liqueurs or fruit extracts.
