Name is probably not familar to most, but the worst NBA owner of all time died the other day. Stepien's poor decision making led to an nba rule banning teams from trading consecutive #1 picks.

For instance, one of the selections he traded away lead to the Lakers getting James Worthy with the #1 overall pick in the 1982 draft. Despite the small fact that the Lakers were reigning NBA champs.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers owner Ted Stepien died Monday at his home in Willoughby Hills, Ohio. He was 82.

Stepien bought the Cavs in April 1980. The team went 66-180 and lost $15 million in his three years of ownership. Because of his habit of trading draft picks for mediocre players or cash, the league passed a rule restricting teams from dealing future first-round picks in consecutive years.
