My wife asked who the Falcons were playing. I just told her the team that is going to win.

Damn those are some fugly looking uniforms for the Steelers.

I have Buffalo and Pittsburgh on the TV. It's the only game airing here right now, and my wife is a J.P. Losman fan, as we regularly went to Tulane games when he was there.

For now, I have San Francisco and St. Louis running on SopCast, although I'll probably jump around a little bit there. I'm not terribly thrilled about any of the early games.

Early on, all I know is that I do not like the Pittsburgh throwback uniforms much.

Raiders Army

It's amazing that teams want the black unis because they look tough (and slimmer, cough cough Sam Adams), yet the Steelers go with these yella helmets and piece of crap looking jerseys.

Not that that won't stop them from winning.

I just flipped over to the Steeler game. I thought the Bills were playing the Wyoming Cowboys. The bright sun made the black a little brownish looking.

FYI. The Steelers uniforms are throwbacks to the 1940s. I agree they are very, very ugly.

This is some sort of miracle for both of them.

Doh!

Packers get a gift with a roughing the kicker penalty on a punt, only to have the next pass go through Donald Drivers hands, off his shoulder pad about 15 feet in the air, and it's picked off. I was disappointed with Driver at first, but Favre threw it behind him a little too much.

Packers good defense stopping Giants. Packers bad offense moving the ball but keeps having problems at some point to end drives.

This game ends up 13-10 at the high end.

Cringer
09-16-2007, 12:51 PM
Huge pass, 46 yards, from Favre to rookie WR James Jones. Very nice! Not an inch to spare on that one, an inch shorter on the pass and it's tipped.

Cringer
09-16-2007, 12:52 PM
Crap, I love my Packers, but the Giants defense really sucks for the Packers to be making some of these plays.

He's a pretty lucky guy. Working in the same offense for 9 years would help anyone. That being said, he's been good enough to work in the same offense for 9 years.

Packers DBs are hurting them more helping them. Charles Woodson may be able to cover a guy, but tackling Amani Toomer is impossible for him I guess.

Why do the Saints still insist on handing the ball off to Reggie Bush? He has the hole recognition of Stevie Wonder and the awareness of Stephen Hawking.

Packers may have ust gotten lucky. Giants get a FG, but ended up having to go for that because of an odd 3rd down play. The Packers were offsides, and Shockey had a big first down catch anyways. But he spiked the ball, which is now a penalty this year.

The refs said they offset, and redid 3rd down. The guys in the booth are saying the way it was explained to them, the Giants should have gotten the first down, and then been penalized the 5 yards since it was after the play.

I am interested to see what the league says about it this week. Odd situation. My guess is the Packers had a blown call go their way.

I love my soon to be 8 yer old daughter. She is currently 2000 miles away with my wife in Washington state visiting my family. She just called asking for an update on the game and having me tell her what is happening as we are on the phone, as she stands there wearing her Favre jersey.

The funny thing though is she asked me, "Whats the number?" I had no idea what she was talking about and asked if she meant the score, she did.

And Packers take the lead with her on the phone, TD to Bubba Franks. Woo!

It's because they are the Green Bay Packers South. They have Ahan Green at RB, Flanigan at C, and Mike Sherman as an offensive assistant. They even copied the Packers by trading for an Atlanta backup QB to be their starter. :p

Hey, he made the comparison, so I looked at the numbers out of curiosity. They were actually closer than I expected, just that they all skew slightly in favor of Boller.

Meanwhile, the Falcons would probably have just as good a chance of winning by direct snapping the ball to Norwood as they do with Harrington at QB. They can't run block, they can't pass block, their receivers wouldn't frighten a high school secondary, and the defense apparently doesn't have much heart considering they just let Jax run off an 8 minute drive that basically sealed the game. And then there's the not-so-special special teams.

I may have to revise my prediction of 4-12, might have gone a little high with that.

Let's see here. Falcons scored 3 last week, 7 today, so 10 points in two weeks.

In recent history, looks like that's the fewest points scored by Atlanta in consecutive games since they were held to a nearly as bad 13 total by Carolina & Tampa in wks 3 & 4 of 2003.

The last time they actually scored this few or less looks like wks 14 & 15 of 1988 when they lost to SF 13-3 & the Rams 22-7 while winding down a 5-11 season under head coach Marion Campbell.

The QB's that year (I haven't found the box scores for those two games yet) were Chris Miller & Steve Dils, the RB was John Settle, and the top receivers were Floyd Dixon, Stacey Bailey, and Ken Whisenhunt.

Nobody saw this coming.

Because of the six turnovers the Bengals defense got last week, it made people wacko over them. I kept hearing how it was such a good defense and that is all it was based on. Not saying I knew this would happen, but it is nice to see.

It looked like he was scared to death to hold the ball. There were a lot of big, scary men chasing him.

Not to mention it was 4th and 4 with time almost out. He had no chance of getting the 1st or a TD.. I thought it was just a very bad lateral attempt.

Things surprise you in football every week. I mean, I figured the Panthers would beat the Texans. I thought the Saints would play a hell of a lot better. But 50+ points from that Browns offense? I didn't think they could do that against a high school team. I can't ever remember looking at a score and saying WTF with as much shock as I do now. Simply an amazing score.

Although Alex Smith is showing signs of Harrington-itis (dumping the ball off at every opportunity), this 49er team is built much like the 2000 Ravens around a strong defense and running game.
