I know it doesn't appear to be anything like Eastside Hockey Manager but I don't really want to pay $35 for a game that has no support in case something goes wrong. Looking at Quest, it seems like they've stopped doing much with it but it is cheaper. Any other hockey type sims out there that are worth anything?

Haven't played Quest, but depending on what you're worried about with EHM, so long as you purchase it legally, between their forums and the online communities, I doubt there are many, if any issues you could run into that couldn't be resolved.

Personally, I have yet to have a single issue with the game after using both the pre and saved game editors along with a few different databases with edited players.

If you like EHM (or think you would like the depth of it), I highly recommend it.

Maybe I'll end up giving the demo a try then...thanks.

Whilst not quite as in depth as the latest EHM offering, the freeware version of EHM called Eastside Hockey Manager: 2nd Generation is quite fun and there a re a few solid online leagues floating around, but it does require a fair amount of trust. fhockey.com has a forum and many editors floating around, including a 06/07 db. And from memory someone is working on a 07/08 db.

Admittedly it is quite dated now (no shoot-outs) as well as not very tactical, but it is a blast to play in small doses, and regularly play it on my laptop when going on holiday.

I actually find the freeware version of EHM to be more fun, but that's just me.

It's not just you, the freeware version is better.

i have recently started to play EHM07 and i must say that i'm really impressed. I loved the freeware version adn it was my first MP experience ever. Then i bought all the following version sby SI, but noe of them clicked on me, not even 07 on the release day. Past week i decided to give it another try, after the last pathces and i must say i'm having a blast with it and don't miss anything from the freeware version.

I assume you're asking about EHM 2007 here. I find the sim times to be pretty good, certainly faster than FM 2007. If you don't have FM as a reference point, well, um, I can really only suggest trying the demo. The sim times will vary greatly depending on your computer, the number of leagues you're running, and which of those leagues you have set to run on full detail. It certainly doesn't sim as fast as something like Baseball Mogul or FOF. I think it's basically depends on your tolerance level.

What Pumpy said, a bit faster than FM (as there are less leagues) but not near as fast as FOF.

Any comparison to Puresim at all?

Sorry i have not played Puresim. But you should download the 6 months demo for EHM07 as it's free and will give you a good idea about the game.

I know...just hate downloading stuff that I might not use. It always seems to leave files behind no matter how hard I might try to root them out.

Are you able to play historical leagues with any of these games? Can I go back and start with real players from 1990 somehow?
