AP College Basketball Poll for 3/3/03 (http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/polls/ap)

Another reason why all individual votes for college sports polls should be publicly available (someone please tell me where I can find this info if it already exists):

In today's AP Men's College Basketball poll, Penn St got 2 votes. We either have one or two sportswriters who should be stoned. Yes, I know these polls don't mean that much, but we should be able to find out who this (these) idiot(s) is (are). For those of you who don't know, Penn St is 1-13 in conference (they beat Wisconsin of course), 6-19 overall, and ranked #196 in the RPI. Yikes!

I believe Sportsline has a typo. According to the poll on FoxSports site, it is Penn not Penn State who got 2 votes.

Hmm, ESPN has it listed as Penn St as well. I checked sportsline for verification. My desire for individual votes to be released is still valid, even if it is in fact Penn and not PSU.

ESPN's version of AP poll (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/rankings?poll=1)

19-5 Penn would make a lot more sense. Sorry for the rant, but seeing that just brought back out some pent-up feelings on college pollsters.

FYI

Crappie, others must have complained, because the link you have in the initial post now lists Pennsylvania with 2 votes.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time. I've pointed out errors in their college football polls before and have seen them make changes pretty quickly. For example, in the latest college football season, anytime a team fell out of the top-25, but still received votes, they would omit the team from the "others receiving votes" list. I would usually double-check at least one other source (often CBS sportsline) to try and verify the accuracy. After a few weeks of this, I sent them an email, and they were fixed later that day.

Now, if I could only get them to agree to FIX the damn Miller Lite 6-pack game / popup window during the NFL season. Good thing Netscape 7 has a popup blocker now.
