Interesting to see some of the outliers!

"Power Rankings" is kind of an elusive criteria, but NBC sure loves the Bears still.

The difference with the Eagles between NBC and FF is astounding.

The AFC South is 6-0 outside their division.

AFC south may look something like this by the end of the season if the Texans hold togther and the Jaguars don't fall off the cliff:
Indianapolis 13-3
Tennesee 10-6
Jacksonville 8-8
Houston 7-9

Based on last weekend vs Jacksonville, I'd rate the Broncos #33... right behind Notre Dame! :grr:

Just came across this link over at Pro Football Reference. An interesting twist to the “normal” Power Ranking.

It's strange to see my Skins in the top 10, but it's probably valid as of right now.

I don't get it how Football Frontier has the Steelers ranked 2nd right now. I also am amazed at how low Us Today has the Broncos ranked.. Do they really think they are a worse team than all of those other teams that they put ahead of them?

And wow, there are alot of really bad teams right now.. when my Falcons can't even crack the bottom 4.

The Broncos are a very weak team right now, they're one of the few teams whose defense might actually be worse than the Bengals.

Am I the only person who thinks Dallas is playing way above their heads?

There's something about them. Like the Saints last year. I liked that the Saints did good, but they just didn't seem like a Conference Championship team. The Cowboys are doing good, but there's something off about them for me too. I think with every team but the Colts, Pats, and Steelers I feel that way though.

What's off is that they play in the shitty NFC, their pass defense is poor, and their offense is inconsistent.

So basically they look like NFC championship material right now.

It is tough to get a read on some teams, like I mentioned above, I think Pittsburgh was way too highly ranked by F_F.. I mean they lost to Arizona who is actually one of the above average teams so far this year, but a top 2 team takes care of teams like Arizona. Likewise Dallas almost lost (and should have lost) to a very bad Buffalo team. Perhaps Dallas was in a trap game and was looking forward to the next week vs the Patriots... but good teams take care of teams like Buffalo even in trap games (See the Pats defeat of Cleveland, even though it looked ugly.)

Right now it seems like there are two dominant teams (Indy and NE) who can only be beaten by one of the top 4-5 teams (including perhaps Pitt, Dallas). Then you have the next rung of teams including Dallas, Pitt, Baltimore, Green Bay, Tennessee who could all beat each other or other teams in the league, but they also could just as easily lose to them.

Then you have the middle rung teams that you never know what you will get each week, finally you get to the really bad teams, which include my Falcons , the Saints, Rams, etc.. who really look like they will lose every week unless someone just gives them the game.

Ten and Baltimore have no chance of beating indy or ne.

Looks like Pit, Indy, NE in the AFC.

NFC is a complete crapshoot. Now if Dallas comes up big this week you'd put them as the solid favorite.

Tennessee beat Indy last year and was within a dropped pass of attempting a game-winning field goal in Week 2 this year. "No chance" seems a little extreme with those events in mind.

Ok, little chance of representing the AFC. Very little.

Glad to see the home team fighting for the #1 pick in the draft. Should be fun watching the phins pass on Brohm, Woodson or any worthy QB for Chad Henne. Now Jacksonville is making this North Florida Boi proud with that ranking even though in the grand scheme of things it doesnt mean much.

Understood. Absolutely agree if that is the question.

wow my beloved Cards in the Top 10. And playing the Carolina Pussycats this weekend at home with possibly a 46 year old QB's starting who's only been on the team for 6 days. Gotta like the Cards chances to move up next week.

Spoken like a true Pats fan. I wouldn't bet on the Titans to represent the AFC but they are now one of the toughest D's in the NFL and are getting back to their old 1999-2003 team style. But yeah, I do agree NE or MAYBE Indy in the AFC. NFC it probably won't matter again.

I'm surprised my Skins have stayed so high in these things, I guess the Packers game didn't do as much damage as I thought it would.

Jacksonville are posers and will be rooted out once they play someone decent.

The Lions have no business in the top 10. They're closer to 2-5 or 3-4 than their actual record.

You're probably right but I think you could say the same thing about every team ranked 9th(Tennessee) to 23rd(Chicago). I don't think any of them are playoff caliber teams, but obviously a few of them will have to make it!

I am a Giants fan and I think it is a little silly the giants are ranked ahead of the chargers.

I also think it is absurd that CBS and FOX have the Colts ranked #1

Yeah, I'll defintely take a crappy Lions team making the playoffs over a good Lions team not making the playoffs. I've suffered enough to not be picky.

Fantasy Frontier wow... props on having being the only ones who have Minnesota and Philly up where they should be, but having Pittsburgh at 12 is ludicrous.
