I got terrible news yesterday.
My parents best friends of 40 years passed yesterday.
does your family have such close friends that they are your "uncle" even though they aren't related. Mine passed yesterday.
Jack was the best friend of my folkes and was an amazing man. He died from a heart attack early yesterday morning in Paris. He was such an amazing man to me and I am devestated.
I am not one to mince words so all I ask is that whereever you are raise a glass to Jack and drink to him.
I love you Jack and miss you.

When I was younger, my friend's grandma was very special to me. So much that I called her "Grandma Mary". She passed away very, very suddenly as did your "uncle" and I was extremely heart-broken. Every Thanksgiving I think of her meticulously cutting vegetables in my friend's kitchen and think back to what a wonderful person she was.
I'm sorry for your loss Lathum :(

Respect to Jack and condolences to his friends & family.
Kind of oddly coincidental, we learned of the sudden death of our former neighbor from Monticello this afternoon as well, apparently a massive heart attack that was totally unexpected for healthy guy who just recently retired.
He & his family were great friends to us when we moved there knowing absolutely no one. And they never missed a birthday or Christmas for Will, even after we moved. I'm not sure that Uncle would be the description I'd use, almost like part-time temp parents for us/grandparents for Will since ours were alive but several hours away.

My parents have two couples that are very close friends, i've called them both Aunts and Uncles since I could talk.
Very sorry to hear, Lathum.
