Similar injury ended the career of my favorite FB, Daryl Johnston.

I remember drafting him in Madden multiple times. I liked him as a FB.

Hall of famer? How do you put numbers to what he's done and meant for Seattle over the last 15 years?

Glad to see Moose has already been mentioned.

Mack Strong and Daryl Johnston would easily get my vote for the Hall of Fame if I had one. You can't compare them with running backs as far as stats go. You have to watch them. They were offensive linemen that could catch the ball when they had to.

Emmitt Smith's offensive linemen get a ton of credit when people talk about his accomplishments, as they should. But Daryl Johnston was just as important. Defenses needed more than one linebacker to fill the hole.

Read this yesterday. I'll never forget the mayne event skit when Seattle players were talking about Mack Strong and his football name.

Something like "Mack Strong... he had to be a fullback"

Wow... it seems like he has been around forever, but I was still surprised to see that he was a 15-year vet. That is incredible for a fullback or any type of running back, really.

Yeah, he was always the FB I went after anytime I played Madden. Sucks, but it's good to see him make the smart decision.

It's funny but I think the first time I said, "Damn, Mack Strong is still on the Seahawks", was 5 or 6 years ago. He's just one of those anomalies the NFL sees every once in a while.

Anyway, that's a lot of punishment for a lead blocker to take for that long. I hope the doctors are right and he does heal naturally without playing.

Mike Alsott had a similar issue and is on IR for it, hopefully he's thinking long and hard about coming back next year. Like Mack says, "There is more to life than football."

The one thing worth nothing about the 15 years (not to take ANYTHING away) is that Mack's very young for his graduating class. He wasn't quite yet 18 years old when he played his first snap at UGA. 36 is doggone old for an NFL fullback, no question about that, though. ;)

Great video interview:

You and me both.

A huge "thank you" to Mack for everything he's done on and off the field during his time in Seattle - he'll be missed.

Mack Strong... Errrgh.

Sometimes what I'm thinking and what I type is not the same. ;)
