Just wondering what everyone's view on cleaning up after their dogs.
I got a dog and an apartment, so I have to walk him to allow him to relieve himself. Now, I take a bag and pick it up (and then throw it out of course.) It seems like I am the only one in the world who does this with all the piles I see on the sidewalk. Furthermore, I get the strangest responses from people. I have been told that "You don't have to do that." "Nobody's gonna step in it." I have been laughed at, questioned as to why I am picking it up... only a couple people have ever said anything positive. Tonight a guy simply said "Hey" and made a gesture waving me off! (I still cleaned it up.)
What is wrong in this world where people not only don't take responsibility, but mock those who do?

Heck no.
There'd be one or two spots along the normal walking route I'd take her where she could go without it being an issue (pretty heavily wooded, a place where someone else is probably not going to walk). She would always go in those spots, and then kick some leaves or dirt over it, so everything was under control.
I miss that dog - she died last month at 18, a ridiculous age for a Siberian Husky.

There are signs all over our apartment complex asking dog owners to pick up their dog's poop. I occasionally take walks and cut across some grassy areas and very rarely see any, so I'm assuming most everyone does!

:( Sorry to hear that.
As for the OP: Yes, I always do. It's only neighbourly.

This is funny, because I've never had anyone say anything like, "Oh, you don't have to do that." However, I have been yelled at intensely by people if they see my dog accidently take a step on their lawn, and even though they can clearly see I have a fucking poop-pickin' bag in my hand, they continue to yell at me for letting my dog walk on their property.
This isn't me letting my dog wander around either, it's litteraly him just cruising down the sidewalk and taking a few steps onto it. That really pisses me off.

I don't have a dog anymore, but when I did, I made that bitch pick up my poo.

We've got an older lady at my complex that puts out little signs to the effect of "Shame on you and your dog" and the policy is pretty strict, so yeah not too many people leave it lying around.

Damn right people should pick up after their dog. I hate it when dogshit is lying all over the place.

You leave the shit so long, it's like motherfuckin' furniture in there! I go into the den to watch the fight, I say "Fuck it" and put my drink on top of it! My friends come over and they say, "That's lovely." I say, "It's not lovely! It's a piece of shit!"

I don't have a dog, but owners should pick up the poo. If there's an owner that doesn't, I'll take a big dump on thier lawn.

It's a right of passage, I did it when I was a kid and so it shall be handed down by them.
P.S. I love Dogs much more now than I did as a Kid.

I lived in Baltimore for about a year. They have some healthy fines for people who don't pick it up. As a result, rarely do you spot any poo. Funny how a little financial motivation goes a long way.
