larrymcg421
10-21-2007, 01:20 PM
The sad thing is Huizenga will probably make excuses for Cameron, saying it's a rebuilding year and we need to give him a chance. So he'll get at least another season to destroy the team some more. That's the scary part. The Dolphins are only going to get worse.

Wait, NE has 35 in the first half? Is this team trying to win, or destroy? Just wow.

I believe that after all the ruckus over the videotaping, most especially the questioning of the credibility of their 3 Super Bowl wins, the answer is clearly "destroy". Simmons had a good point last week about the "F-U TD" they keep scoring in each game.

Do you really think the coach is the problem right now? I mean, what do you think a great coach does with this team?

I think my blame goes like this:

1) Huizenga: For running this team into the ground since he bought it.
2) Mueller: Overrated GM who hasn't made the right moves in Miami.
3) Cameron: Way in over his head. Great coordinator, poor coach.

Not counting any of the previous morons who have helped drive this team into the ground, like Saban and Wanny.

larrymcg421
10-21-2007, 01:29 PM
Do you really think the coach is the problem right now? I mean, what do you think a great coach does with this team?

Well the coach is largely at fault for the current state of the team. Sure it was bad when he got here, but he made it worse with horrible personnel decisions. I see no reason why he'll suddenly make great personnel decisions in the future. Furthermore, some really bad playcalling definitely cost us one win and probably two others.

well this is the fourth Cardinal game I've been able to watch on TV this season (South Carolina), and while I'm happy about that, I think at this point I'd rather not watch them. Man they are just playing some ugly football right now-2 INT's from Warner (one after a blocked punt), numerous penalties killing what would have been 1st downs. Then they got a gift INT, got a TD off of it (going for it on fourth down), then botched the extra point. It's never easy for my beloved Cards

Feel free to correct me if I've got this wrong, but best I can tell the record for TD passes in a game is 7 (Manning had a six TD game)

Sid Luckman, Chi. Bears vs. N.Y. Giants, Nov. 14, 1943
Adrian Burk, Philadelphia vs. Washington, Oct. 17, 1954
George Blanda, Houston vs. N.Y. Titans, Nov. 19, 1961
Y.A. Tittle, N.Y. Giants vs. Washington, Oct. 28, 1962
Joe Kapp, Minnesota vs. Baltimore, Sept. 28, 1969

I want NE to keep playing Brady at full speed in the second half, i want my loved Dolphins to beat the most allowed TD ever in a game record, to end this season 0-16, to see the fans in front of Huizenga home blamming him and let's see if that way finally somebody at he Dolphins ownership could realize they are doing something wrong.

Considering Manning has played better every year of his career so far I'm pretty sure there was never any doubt.

Every year? Including the ones he flamed out against the Pats in the playoffs.

The debate keeps getting better though. I always thought Manning was maybe a stronger all-around QB, but Brady's a better choice if you have less talent around the QB to work with.

Brady's a piece of a amazing Patriots machine. I'm sure Manning would also be unstoppable with this WR crew and O-line backing him up. But I'd also like to see what Manning could do with Reche Caldwell as his main WR.

For the two people who care...

Leftwich has looked decent, but the announcers make it sound like he has been a huge upgrade. Honestly, it looks almost identical to me. Joey and Byron look good when they have time, but whenever there is a blitz, the qb goes down. Why there aren't at least 5 guys coming every play versus the Falcons is beyond me. Zone= completion, blitz= sack.

Probably because its New Orleans. Their secondary is so bad if they blitz its as good as leaving the Falcons receivers uncovered.

Question about Football sportsmanship. I'm not used in any other PRO sport where to keep scoring after winning by a good margin is thought as unsportsmanlike. For example, in soccer, if Real Madrid is winning 5-0 FB Barcelona, the fans will demand R.Madrid players to try to score more to beat a record and to humiliate the rival team.

I have read in different forums critics against the Pats for keeping on trying to score more but... what should they do? just to run the ball and kill time? umm well, I can understand it, but... then shouldn't Miami also stop to try to score? Else... what about if the loosing team scores again, and again and again and end loosing by 3 or even winning? would that be fair?

That is why i don't understand how to keep scoring is unsportsmanlike, if you want the winning team to stop to score, and the loosing one should stop to try to score too, then... why to keep playing? just throw the towel as in boxing and stop acting like playing a real PRO sport game.

I disagree with it being unsportsmanlike. This is a group of guys playing, not a group of crying women and children. If you don't have the skill to hang with the big boys, then just go home and do Accounting.

I remember several years ago, a pitcher from the Giants (Ortiz) I think, got really upset with a team stealing against him while they had a 5 run lead. He threw a HUGE fit about it. Next day, the Giants blew a 5 run lead to lose. Karma.

That being said, the Pats haven't made hardly any serious attempts to move the ball against the Dolphins in the second half. I see no reason to bash them.

Good grief, those Wiki people are fucking fast!

Miami Dolphins

Cobbs remained of the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins until November 27 when he was promoted to the active roster. The team was in need of depth at the running back position after starter Ronnie Brown suffered a broken hand in a Thanksgiving Day contest against the Detroit Lions just a few days prior to Cobbs' promotion.

He went on to play on special teams for three games before being inactive for the final two after Brown's return. Cobbs remains under contract with the Dolphins in 2007, and will likely compete for a backup job in training camp, given that both Sammy Morris and Travis Minor - the team's top two backups in 2006 - have since signed with other teams as unrestricted free agents. He has 2 carries for the 2007 season vs. New England and has 1 TD with 2 yards.

what a bizarre ending to the cards game. Rattay comes in for one play, throws the TD. Go for the 2 point conversion with Rattay lined up as a slot receiver and Boldin as the QB. They hike it to Boldin who does a half-hearted job of running it towards the end zone, then throws it into the end zone and is intercepted.

Then on the on-side kick the cards recover and are now in FG range for a potential game winner.

I don't think anyone doubted his talent. I think plenty of evaluators doubted his durability which hasn't been answered in less than a half of a season. I hope he stays healthy for a long time, he is fun to watch. I'm just not convinced he will.

Let's see him make it through a whole season without getting injured before declaring victory. That is where a lot of the doubts came from. No doubt he was talented, but having a separated shoulder his freshman year, ankle problems his sophomore year, and the broken collarbone his junior year sure didn't give the impression of a durable back.

That's what I thought. I was surprised the booth chose to review whether or not it was a catch, and not whether or not #23 actually stayed in bounds.

Also, what the hell was Romo thinking, trying to slide-tackle two of the Minnesota defenders that way?

No, he won't and he shouldn't be. He's taken the team to the NFC Championship 4 times and the Super Bowl once in the last 6 or 7 years. He held the team together even after McNabb went down last year. He gets at least one bad year before he goes on the hotseat.

Chiefs are in an awfully good spot right now. 1st place in the AFC West and 2-0 in the division with both wins coming on the road (@Oakland and @San Diego). Defense is playing extremely well. The Chiefs still haven't given up more than 20 points in a game this season.

It was great to see Priest Holmes out there again. They gave it to him a couple of times late in the game and he got a first down for the team on two runs. Should keep Larry Johnson on his toes with some competition if nothing else.

That was before the audio cut out on Brian Griese (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4322)'s helmet.
The only noise Griese heard was the sound of his own voice calling the plays, rallying the Bears and driving them 97 yards for the winning score in a 19-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=phi) on Sunday night.

C'mon all you folks focusing on the audio issues alleged in the Pats' scandal, where's the outcry against Philly? This game was in Philly.

Why are you bringing the Pats thing back up? People stopped talking about it long ago. I'll never understand this Pats victimization complex.

As for the situation in the Eagles game, that should definitely be looked into, as it was a little too coincidental for my taste. I still fail to see what it has to do with the Patriots. If the Pats did something wrong, they should be punished. If the Eagles did something wrong, they should be punished.

It doesn't have anything to do with the Patriots except for that natural human reaction of wanting to be treated the same as others. Like if you get got shoplifting and go to jail and it's front page news and you go to jail, and then someone else gets caught shoplifting and they get a warning.

It's not the most mature reaction, but it's a natural one. I'm sure this is nothing though.

Romo has looked less then impressive the last three weeks.

Buffalo game --- No argument there, hard to call a 6 turnover game anything but a disaster, although he did throw for 300 yards and 2 TD's when he was missing Bills defenders.

Last two games combined --- 49 for 68 (72%), 476 yards (7yd / attempt), 3 TDs, 1 INT, 1 fumble lost. He wasn't the reason they lost against New England. He was lighting up the Vikings (220-some passing yards and over 20 minutes time of possession at halftime, with 2/3rds or so of the plays passes) prior to his getting injured, afterwhich he definitely did look a bit off and he didn't do much. He wasn't as good as he had been against the Rams or Giants earlier in the season when he was on a record-setting pace, but he's still been a top 5-10 QB the past couple weeks.

To the few people who watched the Lions/Bucs game, is what the Bucs did for their on-side kicks something brand new or have college/pro teams be doing this for a while now?

For those that didn't see it, the Buccs attempted to on-side kicks. Each time the team just stood in a group right behind the kicker. This forced the Lions' players to cluster into a group in the middle as well, presumably waiting to see which side of the field the Bucs would overload. The kicker than just ran up and kicked the ball hard along the ground right at the group of Lions' players. It hit the leg of one player, bounced way up into the air and into the arms of one of the Buccaneers.

The second time, the Bucs formed up the same way, in that little huddle. This time, instead of kicking a line drive at the Lions in the middle, they kicked a high, slow kick to the right side of filed and it was a foot race between the Lions' TE and one of the Bucs' players. The Lions' player got to the ball first and smothered it, but it was dangerously close.

It seemed like a pretty sound strategy.

having the kicker just dink the ball 10 yards while everyone was lined up on either side was envogue 5 or 10 years ago

seems like the "have everyone in a cluster in the middle" would only worked once by surprise since the other team could just get out of the way and let the thing go

It's going to take winning the division to make the playoffs for the Chefs. They have pretty much an automatic loss at Indy, putting them at 4. Then they have tough games at Denver, vs Green Bay, vs San Diego, and vs Tennessee with at Detroit not being a cakewalk. The schedule is fairly cushy but they have to win all the ones they are supposed to and then steal a game or two and that just rarely happens in the NFL.

It just seems like an illusion that they are even in things right now. They are in first place but at 4-3, it's not a strong first place, and if San Diego decides to get it back together like they did the last two weeks, then they put KC in the rear view mirror and there's no way KC makes a wild card berth- they just don't look good enough. But again, they do have the tiebreakers so far and that's huge.

Have not seen it in college or pros, but that's the way we kicked onside kicks in high school. I think the reason it may have worked was because it's not the way teams prepare to recover an onside kick, so it caught them by surprise.. Now that a team has done it, teams will be looking out for it.

Here's another one I hope Goodell makes an example of. Hours after the game honoring Darrent Williams, the teammate that reportedly started the shit that got Darrent shot and killed was arrested for a DUI.

hxxp://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=79513

Broncos WR Marshall arrested on suspicion of DUI

ENGLEWOOD - Denver Police say Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday morning.

Police say Marshall was pulled over in downtown Denver shortly after 2 a.m. His arrest came hours after the Broncos defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-to-28 in Denver.

Marshall was released and issued a summons.

Broncos team officials said they were aware of the arrest but had no comment.

According to a report on HBO's "Real Sports," Marshall and his cousin were partying on New Year's Eve and reportedly started a confrontation with suspected gang members. Those people are accused of later shooting and killing Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.
