Looks like another Bay Area special. Hope everyone's ok. A friend of mine out there says it was strong enough to knock things off walls and the like.

San Jose got rocked pretty solidly, but nothing crazy. A few things off shelves, and that's all. What impressed me was the length...seemed to last a good 5 to 10 seconds.

I live almost on top of the epicenter and felt a good shaking for about 10 seconds and then almost a minute of much gentler rolling. A few things fell but it wasn't a big deal here.

Yeah, I was at work (Palo Alto), and I definitely felt the building shake (and got out, quickly) - but it died down pretty soon.

Felt a jolt like someone shook the house, then a few seconds later it started shaking. Didn't last that long up here.

Yikes! Hope everyone's okay. I prefer a roller to a jolt... those jolts are really scary.

WTF? Fires, now earthquakes. I should have stayed in San Diego this week.

Yea, I was in San Jose at my girlfriend's house. House was rolling back and forth for what felt like 10-20 seconds. Few things fell over on the table, but nothing came down off the walls.

This is why I live in Buffalo.

No Earthquakes
No Wild Fires
No Mudslides
No Hurricanes
no tornadoes (or at least not often enough to count)

We get the occasional freak snow storm.

You can walk through snow.
Snow melts fairly easily.

I love Buffalo.

Yes, I'm sure Applebee's is remarkably stimulating. And when its 10 degrees out, I'd much rather be in Buffalo than San Francisco.

I hate snotty west coasters. And no, I don't consider my self a west coaster.

The occasional freak snow storm. Hah.

DC has very few natural disasters. I'm rather certain in my lifetime (28 years) there have been 2-3 mildly significant hurricanes, a few tornadoes worth mentioning, and 2 "blizzards" that are like an indian summer in Buffalo. :)

May want to check this map here:

before you proclaim your area safe from earthquakes.

I say we cut off the water supply from Colorado to CA. We'll see how snotty they get then. ;)
