So, I'm a 99% Firefox user, but there are somethings that require IE.
However, every time I open IE, I get this error:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74005 on this server.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apache Server at go.microsoft.com Port 8100
I've tried multiple websites, and the only thing I get is a change in the title, IE (you don't have permission to access http://cnn.com) .
Any thoughts? I've reinstalled IE, but I can't figure out if this is a comcast issue or something else.

well, the first error looks like an issue on the remote server...
have you installed any software lately? gotten the latest AV updates, etc?

Port 8100 makes it sound like you're getting routed through a proxy server.

That, and I'm fairly sure Microsoft doesn't run on Apache. :)

Yeah, I have no clue what the fuck I've done wrong. I've done all my windows updates, have been running zone alarm, and it worked fine before I moved. I googled it, and someone had a similar problem - with no real advice.

Hmm... have you tried disabling Zone Alarm?

I've had it for 3 years (and its worked fine with IE), and the permission set for IE 7.0 is normal - hell, I've even allowed the server settings. I'll try again when I get home, but I was hoping the fresh IE install would do it.

Did you read the MSKB link? A recent update to IE may have thrown Zone Alarm off.

I was saving it to review at home - my bad.
Thanks for the help - I hope that's it. :D

Okay, a little late, but it seems a few people are having this problem - for some reason, IE thought it was trying to connect through a proxy - 30 second fix. I feel like an idiot (firefox worked fine because it doesn't make this idiotic assumption).
