Anyone watching this show? Anyone know what was the deal with Criss Angel and that dude who spazzed out?

I'm not watching the show, but judging from the promos, 'dude that spazzed out' should describe almost everyone on the show...

I watched only a little bit of the show, but saw that scene. The dude that spazzed out had some magic act that evidentally was "controversial" due to reportedly being posessed by a dead person.. Of all of the acts I saw on the show (only watched for 40 min), this act was the worst done and least believable. Chris Angel basically said during the review after the act, if he could do that then he should tell him what was in an envelope in his hand.. The guy got all mad at Chris for calling him out and tried to look tough I guess.

The whole thing was dumb. My wife gave me grief for even watching the show, I was hoping for at least 1 or 2 good acts, but most of them were pretty subpar that I saw.

Yeah, we've been watching this show a bit. The tricks aren't too good, and you can see a string in some of the tricks. I thought that the guy (Jim Callahan) was the worst of the lot. I just wondered if there was some backstory to him and Criss Angel.

After reading the NBC message boards, I guess Criss Angel didn't like the fact that he passed off his act as real as opposed to a trick.

Until I saw commercials for this show, I had no idea someone named Criss Angel even existed. I am still not sure exactly who he is or what he does and I don't really want to know.

His name is really Chris Sarantakos. He had a popular Broadway magic show that led to him getting a show on A&E. People say good things about his shows usually, and its led to him being used by various celebrities or events for parts of acts or shows as well.

I haven't seen much of him myself, so just going off of what others have said.

On October 30, 2007 during an interview with Larry King (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_King) about the show and Angel said "no one has the ability, that I'm aware of, to do anything supernatural, psychic, talk to the dead. And that was what I said I was going to do with Phenomenon. If somebody goes on that show and claims to have supernatural psychic ability, I'm going to bust them live and on television."

I didn't see much of the show last night, but did catch the confrontation between Angel and Jim Callahan. Callahan went into a series of grimaces and gyrations in some supposed trance-like state in which he allegedly called on the dead author Raymond Fine (I think it was Fine, but I'm not sure). Callahan wrote down what the dead Raymond had communicated to him about what was in a locked box on the stage. Raven Simone opened the box and pulled out a toy car. Jim then showed us what Raymond had written through him. Raymond's writing revealed 'metal, rectangular, 4 weels' (yes, this author apparently cannot spell after he has passed on).

Angel called Callahan's performance "comedic" and hilarity ensued as Callahan looked like he was going to take a swing at Angel. Angel pulled out an envelope and offered Callahan $1 million if he could tell him what was in it. Callahan started to say something about ideological differences before being called out.

I thought the most ridiculous part of the whole charade was that Raymond couldn't give us any more valuable information from beyond the grave than misspelling what was inside the box. Surely there must be some advice that he could give the living that would actually help us out instead of telling us that there's a metal, rectangular, 4 weels thing in the box.

From the little bit I've read, Criss Angel openly acknowledges that everything "supernatural" that he does is a trick. I get the idea that he wants people to be amazed by the tricks that he does, not that he expects people to actually believe that he has supernatural powers. It appears that Criss Angel gets pretty offended by people claiming to have such powers for real, and I think it's entertaining that he'll take others to task for that. I haven't seen this week's episode of "Phenomenon" yet, but if I do get around to watching it on TiVo, I'll look for that part.

I mean if you have supernatural powers wouldn't you not waste time on a stupid tv show and concentrate on doing 2 chicks or more at the same time?

Maybe find Al Capone's vault or something?

This is the clip. Try to ignore the propoganda that follows the clip on Criss Angel. As it was said before, Criss doesn't perpetrate that he has supernatural powers.

Saw the first episode of this, and wasn't interested enough to watch the second. But I was curious as to which two were eliminated?
