Neither had I until someone pointed me the direction of that website. Now I mostly cry myself to sleep at night.

Ok, I looked at it, and it's rather silly.
If you took the worst looking of any group of any kind, and put them up against people who were dressed by professionals for a movie .... they'll lose every time. I'm sure there are non-American people involved in this weirdness that look just as bad. They just weren't pictured.

I can't even distinguish the sexes of some of these people. I'm not Japanese enough for this game. :(

Maybe the article should be "Americans shouldn't Cosplay Anime characters" because I've definately seen much better 'cosplay' of 'American' things. I'm sure there is good and bad of all movie types in all countries.

Is LARP considered as cosplay?

Conclusion: If you dress up like Final Fantasy characters, you are a dork, whether you are American or not.

If being American means we can't have Ruby Rocket, I'm moving to Canada.

Seriously, we are all geeks on this board to some degree, but these people are at a whole different level. To paraphrase Shatner: "Get a life!"

Conclusion: If you dress up like characters from a video game or anime, you are a dork, whether you are American or not. Unless you are a really hot chick. Then it's ok.
Fixed more.

LARP doesn't count as cosplay in my opinion... though this one chick in the V:tM LARP I used to play in... oh man, she could Dementate my Assamite anyday!
