View Full Version : Tournament of Rock: Reseed?

So it's pretty obvious that the seeding is piss poor in the tournament. The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are on course to meet in the third round, despite both being among the very most likely bands to win the whole thing. I think we have three options at this point:

1. Go with the brackets as is
2. Reseed the brackets after each round using the existing rankings
3. Do another poll to re-rank the remaining 32 bands and then go with a regular seeded bracket.

I think the last option is the best one, because option 2 uses the existing seeds that are pretty question (Green Day higher than Zeppelin?)

Anyhow, I thought I would let the community decide.

blah blah blah... I think we have three options at this point:

1. "no new poll"
2. "no new poll"
3. Do another poll

Okay, got it so far...

I think the last option is the best one

YOU DON'T SAY!

I think if there is one thing we can all agree on, it's that there aren't enough polls going on here.

I agree, you can never have too many polls, especially about such an important topic.

Perhaps we could settle this with... uh... some sort of tool that would let people register their opinions... ummm... I dunno...

more polls to reseed will flood the 1st page with unnecessary crap. i think it's best not to take this too seriously (results aren't going to be published in any official capacity that i know of), it's just a silly little diversion. leave it as is. i don't know what determined the initial seeding, but just like in the AFC (Pats/Colts) and the West Conference in NBA - sometimes the best teams meet each other too early. so if the final matchup is Led Zeppelin vs. Kevin Federline just cuz Zeppelin vs. Beatles came too early, so be it. no one will lose sleep over it. it's a cool tourney, but i don't think this quasi-dilemna will make much of a difference one way or the other.

RHCP rulez.

I actually voted for option #3 because I assumed it was a joke and thought it was pretty clever. Then I read the post and realized I was probably wrong twice.

A referendum? An election? A crappy talk radio show with a call-in segment?

A referendum? An election? A crappy talk radio show with a call-in segment?

I'm tired of the local news "reporting" something, then the anchor saying, "We want to know what you think! Log on to ourcrappynewsstation.com and respond to our daily poll: Do You Like Pedophiles? Results at 11!"

...

Uh, is this considered off topic?

There's 64 of these things, right? You're obviously patterning this after the NCAA basketball tournament. Why on earth would you recede?

Reseed and restart this time with a series of polls for each matchup. Say best of 5 polls for each one.

Oh, or have about 300 bands play in 25-30 regular season poll matches. Then create a Tournament of Rock Selection Committee to decide who gets into the tourney, and what seed everyone gets -- all through polls, of course. Then poll the polls. And don't forget the poll-in poll between the 64th and 65th polled polls. Poll.

of course we'd need polls to elect the Selection Commitee.

We could have a poll on that :)
