I didn't want to threadjack the black Friday thread but I had a few questions about purchasing a GPS and am looking for the best deal:

I would like one with North American maps
Voice activated (commands and directions)

Obviously there are a ton of other options I'm interested in as well but it's so tough to pick just one of these! I don't think I'd want to spend over $300 on one and would LOVE to get one for much less with a sale next week.

Thanks everyone! I'm curious to hear what are the "must haves" when it comes to GPS devices and options.

I think Voice-Activated might run out of that $300 range pretty quickly.

If that's not necessary check out the Garmin StreetPilot - very simple and easy to use and robust.

Yup. Voice Activation and speaking back street names are what you pay $500+ for. That said I've now seen at least 2 deals for the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition (both are in the Black Friday thread) for $150 or less which is a FANTASTIC deal. I got mine on the "Sharper Image posted their price a week early but honored it anyway for me" deal. About to take two long trips so I'll let you know how it works out, but the one drive to work was fun. It lets you hook up to the computer to download new maps and other updates which is cool (and was one of my big fears with buying a GPS).

Aside from Sharper Image, where else can you get a deal on this one?

It's in the Black Friday thread, in a post listing a whole bunch of stores/deals.
