I went with my wife to see Dan in Real Life the other day at the movies. It was her turn to pick out the movie and this is what she went to see. First for the movie review.. I enjoyed the humor in alot of it, but it very clearly is a chick flick.. So its probably a decent pick for a date movie (a movie the woman will like but enough humor in it at times to keep you entertained), but not a movie I would pick over others that are out right now.

Now on to the reason for my post.. This movie had to be my worst nightmare jumping out at me.. As some people know, I have three daughters age 7, 3 and 9 months... and my wife nearly died back last Spring... In this movie, Steve Carrell plays a widower who has three daughters (like age 17, 14 and 10 or so) that he raises alone after his wife died suddenly, and all of the various issues he is going through...

All I can say is that I am -not- looking forward to 7-9 years from now when I will be going through the same thing (multiple daughters wanting to date, have their own freedom, try to grow up too fast).. eeesh.. Did any other parents out there have the same reaction as me when I watched this movie? Someone with older kids tell me its not this bad :)
