Why does the game key or look agressively for the run when the offense is in a 5 wide formation? What's the reasoning?

Pure percentages, it would appear. If there's a 20% chance of aggressive run on 1st and 10, there's a 20% chance of aggressive run, no matter what the formation. There *may* be some level of adjustment to the odds, but it's clear that it doesn't eliminate the chance.

Shouldn't the defense adjust? Like some sort of audible depending on the defensive coordinator or the intelligence of the unit? Don't know, just throwing stuff out there, but if I were in defense expecting the run and saw no runningbacks, I may make an adjustment. Does the game already do this?

I find that I stop the run better when my defense is keying on a pass :)

What a wonderful and much needed concept for career football sims in general. I'm still getting the occasional:

2nd and 10 from my 40 yd line and the opposing team calls aggressive run in GOAL LINE formation  I pass and get a nice gain or score out of it. This is frustrating and no fun.

That's a Rex issue. For example, my Rex is currently calling for 10-27-23-40 defense on 2nd and 8-10, with (not in the red zone) 44% GL on aggressive run , and 28% GL on run. That means that on 2nd and 10 from midfield, if I use Rex, I should expect:

.1 * .44 = 4.4% goal line, aggressive run
.27 * .28 = 7.56% goal line, run

So, yeah, on nearly one out of eight 2nd and 10 situations, I would be in goal line defense if I used Rex.

I can't remember where I read this, but doesn't play diagnosis determine how the defense reacts when the play isn't what they had planned for, i.e. they expect run but it's a pass? that would almost be like a group-think audible.
