All right FOFC, it's time to fess up and publicly admit to the guilty pleasures you listen to. You know, the cheezy songs that we all love to hate. Entertainment Weekly ranked the top 10 Cheezy Songs of all time...were they on target or way off base?

The Flame by Cheap Trick
Love Bites by Def Leppard
Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx
Hold On and You're in Love by Wilson Phillips
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
Against all Odds and One More Night (tie) by Phil Collins
All my Life by K-Ci and Jo Jo
Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams
Crazy for You by Madonna
Somewhere Out There by Linda Rondstadt and James Ingram (From An American Tail OMPS)
Somewhere in the Night/Mandy/Weekend in New England (tied) by Barry Manilow
Lost in Your Eyes by Debbie Gibson
Could Have Been by Tiffany
Glory of Love by Peter Cetera (from The Karate Kid 2 OMPS)
Open Arms by Journey

I'll start:

Hi, my name is Oliegirl (Hi Olie!) and I love cheezy music...especially cheesy 80's music. A couple of my all time favorite songs are on that list - Lost in Your Eyes, The Flame, Iris (which I personally don't consider cheezy). I agree that Bryan Adams should be on the list, but for a different song, the Robin Hood song with Sting and Rod Stewart "All for One (All for Love)". A few other cheezy songs I love:

The Copacabana by Barry Manilow
Do They Know it's Christmas by Band Aid
Candy by Bow Wow Wow

There are countless others...but I'll keep the list short. So come on - share your cheezy favorites!!! Maybe we'll do something super creative like make a play list we can all download, or have Antmeister make an FOFC original song out of all of them...

Aww man is that Bryan Adams song cheezy?

By definition.

First two that come to mind:

I can't think of anything cheesier than "Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen. Since I am a huge Queen fan, I love that song even though I hated just about everything they did in the mid-late 80's.

Words and music by Brian May (One of the most underrated musicians ever, and the heart behind Queen)

Theres no time for us
Theres no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?

Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?

Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today

Who waits forever anyway?

Multiple Chicago/Peter Cetera songs.
Multiple Journey songs.
Never Gonna Dance again by Wham!.

Absent entirely from my list: Bryan Adams. Only good thing he's done is the duet w/ Roger Waters on Empty Spaces.

Oh, yeah, and I love almost everything by Seal, and my wife says that most of it's cheesy... we differ on that.

One more: That craptacular song (written by like Richard Marks or something like that) by the Backstreet Boys or Nsync called "This I Promise You" or something. Verrrrrrrry cheesy, but I like it fer some reason. :shurg:

"Sausalito summer night" by Diesel

Hot summer night in Sausalito
Can't stand the heat another mile
Let's drop a quarter in the meter
and hit the sidewalk for a while

I'll have a burger and a root beer
You feed the heap some of the grape
A shot of premium to boot, dear
We'll get across the Golden Gate

(chorus)
All aboard (Sausalito summernight)
All aboard (Sausalito summernight)

One Night in Bangkok

I heard "One Night in Bangkok" on the way home from work yesterday...great song! Doesn't make much sense, but still a great song :)

And yes, the list does have more than 10 songs - I thought when I first saw it that it was a top 10 list, but then I realized it was a just a "Cheezy Song Play List", but I'd already written the post and forgot to go back and edit it...

Besides those mentioned:

Always--Atlantic Starr
The Wind Beneath My Wings--Bette Midler
Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You--Glenn Mederios
I Swear--All 4 One
The Search is Over--Survivor

Most of all: My Heart Will Go On by Celin Deion

And I'd choose Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams to beat out Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman.

Not really the love song many people think it is--when you look at the lyrics, the singer is actually delivering a "have sex with me, or else" ultimatum...

About 4 years ago, I made a cd of cheesy 80's songs for my wife. She loved it so much, it is now a 3 disc compilation. Disk 1, song 1 is my own personal favorite cheesy song, Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl. #2 was Tommy Tutone with 867-5309/Jenny.

Many, many, many of the 80's hair band ballads, to name a few:

When I See You Smile, Bad English
Heaven, Warrant
Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Poison

Not too sure if they qualify as cheesy, but quite probably.

And more recently, and if people can list Celine freaking Dion in here, so can I with them...

With Arms Wide Open, Creed

Heh. :)

But some of my faves off the top of my head:

Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On"
Bryan Adams or Brandy "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" I like both versions.
Wilson Phillips "Hold On"
Amy Grant "Baby, Baby"
Martika "Toy Soldiers"
Roxanne "It Must Have Been Love (But It's Over Now)"
