I work several different jobs which means invitations to several different holiday parties. Normally I look at them think "that's nice" and go to the one for my main job and ignore the part time job parties. However one of the part time jobs has an interesting conceit:

Everyone gets 20,000 in poker chips when they come in. NL Poker will be played. At the end of the night for every 2,000 in chips you have you get a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes aren't shabby. You can rebuy if you go broke, with proceeds going to a scholarship fund.

So basically they're going to do a cash game setup. I tend to be good at NL cash games. And I'll have the chance to play against a whole bunch of people who aren't very good at poker to begin with (or at least I'm likely to be better than) and who more than likely are used to playing tournaments rather than cash games.

So, if I choose to go, what kind of adjustments do I make playing in a cash game against players used to playing in tournaments? How can I maximize my EV in this situation?

Play the opposite of how the table is playing. If they're playing loose (probable) then play tight, wait for a decent hand, and then play it hard. If they're playing tight (unlikely but not impossible) then get in there and steal chips.

If you hit a specific situation you're not sure how to handle, call me on my cell, ask for my advice, then do the opposite.

Don't bluff.

Seriously.

You can't bluff a bad player.

In events like this that I've done in the past I've found that people play anything and everything so, you'll probably want to see alot of flops but, get out early if you don't hit anything.
