What I've read is that as a result of this Buffalo will now go after Takeo Spikes.

Awesome! Go Falcons! Now they have an actual threat at WR!

All they need to do now is wheel Ray Charles in to sing the National Anthem at the NFC Championship.

Um, I heard the exact opposite. Now they CAN go after Spikes because this free's up 5 mill+ under the cap.

If it's the right kind of bust, it may get me to the stadium on Sundays.

I think Buffalo would actually be giving up their own first round draft pick for Spikes. I believe the pick you give up has to be at or above where your own pick would have been in a round.

So if they do sign Spikes, Cincy would get Buffalo's pick and Buffalo would keep Atlanta's.

EDIT: I just realized Buffalo doesn't have their own pick (New England has it). The first rounder they recieved from Atlanta was lower in the draft then their own pick would have been, so I'm not sure they are eligible to use it on a restricted free agent. I think they would need a first rounder at least as high as their selection would have been.

Number 23 pick is generally not the kind of pick that gets you in the stadium.

2. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see Vick and the Birds fly with a real wide receiver! :D :D :D

But what will all the Vick supporters do for excuses now? Did you catch that TroyF? :D

Will Price be good as a #1 receiver? I think Eric Moulds really took a lot of pressure of him in Buffalo. I don't know, maybe he'll flourish.

Tarkus Frankly, I don't think I'll need any excuses. With a year under his belt and an improved WR corps, I look for significant improvement in his performance next season. I'll eat my words if I am proven wrong, but I have a feeling it is going to be a whole new ball game.

I mentioned this to GrantDawg last night, but another exciting piece for the Falcons is that they are said to be going after Mack Strong. Mack is a nice blocking fullback, and has good hands. He would make a nice safety valve for Vick. This is also exciting personally. I think I've mentioned it before, but I've known Mack since high school. He's lived in Seattle since he graduated from UGA (yup, in four years....). Maybe this would bring him back home. :D

I still think we need another, and of course some line improvement.

The best thing about this deal is that the Falcons will stay away from Coles! Now if only the Redskins do as well! :)

He's probably better than Jefferson also but a factor will be facing teams #1 corners more and presumably signing a big deal...

I also think picking up Strong would be significant. Fullbacks are very important in Falcons offense.

So true! I was worried after the David Boston signed with San Diego. Now if the Jets just match to Chad Morton offer sheet....

:D Hehehe. I've got his phone number somewhere around the house. Maybe I need to find it and give him a call just to remind him that several of his old buddies are right here in the A.T.L. ;)

TKO's not a restricted free agent. He's a transistion player. There is no compensation if the Bills sign him but it gives the Bengals a week to match the offer. Where the draft pick comes in is in a deal where the Bengals would agree to not match the offer in exchange for the pick right now but it is a legitimate way for Cincinnati to get compensation for losing TKO.

I've thought for a long time now that Mack Strong was one of the most underrated players in the NFL. I hate the thought that Seattle might lose him in Free Agency. :(

A pair of Anxiety's collectible panties to the first person who can find an article about this trade that doesn't contain an oh-so-clever play on the word Price. And I'm not talking about a "sources say" type article, but a full-fledged article confirming that the trade has happened.

Great move by the Falcons. (And also helps me because the Falcons are one of my favorite teams to play in Madden 2003 :D )

Don't get carried away Atlanta, he's a number 2 WR - nothing more.

Oh, he's a deep threat - but he'll rescind a huge gain with a penalty at the drop of a hat. He'll refuse to block on running plays and shout his mouth off if Vick dares ignore him by carrying the ball into the EZ when his #1 man was wide open.

The Bills will elevate Josh Reed and I honestly do not think PP will be missed so much although we will need an experienced possession FA to pad out.

I don't think TD would have done this deal unless he was confident of bringing TS to Buffalo - all round a definite grade up for the Bills.

cthomer5000. I hope they don't. The Redskins overpaid again. That's just too much money for a kick returner. The Jets have Martin and Jordan ahead of him as running backs and although he did a nice job returning kicks last year remember a lot of his yardage came in just the first game. As I recall he only really had one other very good game. I don't think you give a $2.5 mil signing bonus to a kick returner. Let Jordan and Moss return kicks or pick up someone in FA.

Holy shmolie...10 million dollar bonus...

Falcons | Price To Get A New Deal - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
11:12 PT: Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com newly acquired Atlanta Falcons WR Peerless Price will get a new contract with the team. It is a seven-year deal and includes a $10 million signing bonus. The contract includes stipulations that will allow the seventh year to void if Price achieves predetermined playing time levels. Before Friday morning, the Falcons had offered only their second-round pick in this year's draft or their first-round choice in 2004, buy Bills GM Tom Donahoe was holding firm on his price of a 2003 first-rounder. Again, the trade is awaiting league approval.

Tarkus,

I'm with Skydog, I don't think any excuses will need to be made for Vick. A healthy and in shape Duckett to start the regular season, Price as a deep threat, Crumpler/Strong/Dunn/Finneran as underneath guys. . . I think he's going to have a monster year.

I think a lot of people will be considering him as the top fantasy QB this upcoming year.. I don't know if I'm ready to buy into it yet.
