Pretty much, the discussion goes on with no one going after MJ4H, but rather quoting him and then stating why they dislike Petrino and his handling of the situation. Someone makes an offhand comment about believing Tony Barnhart before they'll believe Hawgs Illustrated, which was also not a personal attack. People continue to snipe at those within the Arkansas program, not MJ4H personally. Then, after a while, MJ4H says "I'm not opening this thread anymore" because there's no worthwhile discussion going on (just because he doesn't like that he's not getting any backup). And THEN the sniping comes in. Well deserved if you're just going to remove yourself from the discussion in such an immature fashion.

THEN the first person that goes after MJ4H personally is JiMGa. I mean, are we all newbies here? JiMGa may possess a lot of good qualities, but tact is not one of them. If you get insulted by him, you should almost look at it like a badge of honor. Completely unsurprising. A couple of other people say some really mild things after that, but if you're going to leave the boards over THAT, then you probably don't really belong in a discussion of the topic outside of the Arkansas boards anyway.

I Apologize. Last night was an awful, awful night. The stupid assholes that were getting personal pushed me over the edge. I retract my statement at the beginning of this thread. Flat tires, my son having about 2,000 seizures and distonia, and in general the stress of my job right now have made me quite edgy. Again, I apologize.

Thank you for those that sent me personal messages expressing your desire for me to stick around. That is ultimately what did it. For those that read that thread and didn't see anything personal, either read it again, or stfu because you definitely didn't read the whole thing.

I did not depart the thread because I was not getting any backup. There were plenty of people on my side of this, including people at ESPN that think this whole thing is ridiculous (Chris Mortenson said he isn't the only one at ESPN that thinks that, for instance). People selectively citing the AJC and not other articles from the AJC that clearly contradict it (such as the article about Jeff Long strongly disagreeing with the timeline) are the type of thing that was pissing me off and not making me want to go back into the thread. It is obvious what people like that want to think, so why should I try to change their minds?

As for the people themselves, they will just be ignored from here on out. I won't let two or three people run me off.

Jon, I've always really liked how you are very blunt with your opinions, and the fact that it is directed at me right now isn't going to change that. I was trying to be offended by it when you first wrote what I quoted above, but then realized that is exactly why I have always liked you. I'm sorry for being a jerk to you the last couple of days. You are welcome to your opinion about Petrino, obviously. I don't necessarily share it, though there has certainly been enough info given to me lately for me to be more wary than I was (the vitriol can't be completely without cause from so many sources).
