No Hannah surprises me so much that I refuse to think this list is accurate. Wasn't that thing sold out everywhere?

The numbers are from a Billboard story - linked in the OP...

The big issue with the Hannah Montana tour is that a) there were only 55 dates originally, and b) top listed face value of the tickets was $63, regardless of the scalpers' value. The above tours likely outgrossed it due to higher ticket value, greater number of dates, and/or larger venues.
It's also possible that the extension of the Hannah Montana tour to January 31 means it's not officially a "2007" tour, but IMO that's quibbling.

That says a lot about the current music industry.

Do we really think that the people lining up to overpay for tickets for this sort of show are motivated, even slightly, by the quality of the performance they are going to witness?

They just released some more tickets in Austin I think it was, or they added a show. Something like that. My wife was able to get 4 tickets. I wish they were to sell online, but they are for the kid and her friend (her mom is paying us back) and the moms. After my unhappiness faded away I told her I might want to take our daughter. The hot mom single mom potential at that show should be tremendous. Also, the creepy old single guy coming by himself would be more fun to see then I can imagine.
That says a lot about the current music industry.
It sucks. It also says a lot about our nation's taste in music. It sucks.

Christina is the only one on that list I'd consider seeing. And that's all I did, because she was here and I passed.

These are worldwide tour numbers. The Police and Genesis, especially Genesis which has been playing in huge sold out venues in Europe all year, are being supported by oversees dates.

No, I was actually trying to make your point - people will pay for nostalgia, as long as it is a reasonable fascimile...
