Hey guys,
I got this D-lineman who I just drafted. He is a NT but I play 4-3 so I want him LDT or RDT. The problem is that before camp, I can't get him to gain weight or swtich positions. I don't want him playing out of position all year/career and eating whatever penalties to his stats that brings.
Is there anything I can do?

Thanks alot for any help

Are you sure he's signed his contract?

What's his height? I think there's a limit on weight based upon his height, which will then cause him not to switch to LDT/RDT.

In any case, just play him as a NT out of position if it comes to it. I believe you'll get the same results as if you switched his position.

Unfortunately you're stuck. If he's small enough he won't be able to be a DT and some players for whatever reason won't bulk up or down. You'll have to play him OOP, move him to LB/DE, or trade him.

I highly doubt he is ...

I think he's signed his contract. Why wouldn't he have?

He's getting the message "Bulking up will do the player no further good" or whatever. And the player is too small to convert to LDT or RDT. Happens all the time.

You can switch positions with draft picks who haven't signed yet.

Is there really a ratings loss when playing a NT as a LDT/RDT?

I guess I was sort of assuming that he couldn't change his weight at all, ie the weights button was greyed out. Maybe that's not the case. Why would a newly-drafted NT not be able to switch to DT though? Is this a historical league or what? What's this guy's weight?

The game simply has restrictions on which positions a player can switch to if he isn't the right weight. This guy must be a very undersized NT, so he can't switch to LDT or RDT, but I'm not sure he's going to lose any skill level by playing out of position. I've never thought twice about playing SILB's as MLB's or FL's as SE, for example. I only thought this really mattered for LT/RT.

I have a WLB that I want to switch to SLB because he's better in coverage than runstuffing, but the game won't let me do it even after I had him bulk up. i think now he's 205. As for the NT playing LDT or vice versa, I really don't think it's a big deal. I have an LDT having an all-pro season at the nose. I don't change him because I'm planning on going to the 4-3 next year.

Thanks alot for all your replies guys. I guess he's just going to play OOP and have to deal with it.
