I see Frets on Fire got some love in the Guitar Hero:80's Edition!!!!! thread, but it needs some further props.

I have just spent a couple of hours mucking around on this and had such a blast I thought I had better re-insert it into the collective consciousness.

I understand it is like a Guitar Hero for the PC, but freeware. I have never played Guitar Hero, but I tell ya, I think I might have to now.

I played around with this about a year or so ago. Not a bad little app, but it's just not as fun using a keyboard... I'm fairly certain it would be possible to hook a guitar hero guitar up to your PC using a converter of some kind, but I never tried it.

There were some very well done versions of songs available too. I remember playing a hendrix song that someone's band had actually recorded themselves. Very professional.

It is possible to use a GH guitar indeed. I played around with these even making my own key tracks. It was this activity that made me realize I hate Guitar Hero.

I played this a lot until GH3 was released for the PC. No need for it now.
