One just opened up down the street and I'm thinking about getting some for dinner to see if its any good. Apparently they are into flamed grilled spiced chicken... served with tortillas.
So... anyone had it? Is it worth it? Should I stay away?

I always liked it when I was younger and went to visit family in SoCal...but that was then...and my culinary tastes were much less refined.

I tried it one time when I was in San Jose. Liked it so much that I tried to make it at home but was never able to get it quite right.

It's Peruvian-style chicken, isn't it?
If it's what I'm thinking of, it's pretty darn tasty. Peruvian chicken rocks.

It's decent...I put it in "High-quality fast-food" category.

The one in Phoenix was terrible, but the ones in So. Cal were great.

Yeah, Pollo is probably the best of the "fast-food" Mexican places around. Definitely behind Baja Fresh and Rubios, but those places are more expensive and are more sit-down than fast food restaurants.

Ate there a couple of times when my wife worked in Bakersfield for a couple of months a few summer's ago and it was pretty good.

Had it. Was good!
I had the 2 piece meal with beans and fries as the sides (yes, I know, supposed to be rice so you can make your own burritos, but I wanted the fries). Got some cilantro and onions to go along with the chipotle sauce and spicy avacado sauce. The chicken was pretty tasty. It was tender and had some good garlic lime flavor. I shreaded it and put it on the tortillas, and then beans, and then the cilantro/onions & sauce. I liked it. Will be going back in the future.
I just wish they gave you more tortillas :(.

Not "fast food"..."good food quickly."

El Pollo Loco is pretty good fast food. I'd actually rank it higher than the likes of Rubios, but I think that is a matter of taste.
If you want more tortillas, get the three piece meal(it comes with three) Or you can order a side of tortillas.
The citrus marinade flavor beats just about any fast food taste out there.

YOU GOT FRIES/??!?1!! :eek::eek::eek:
Heh, j/k.. you redeemed yourself by getting the avocado salsa. I don't make burritos/tacos out of them, instead, I tear a big piece of the tortilla and tear into the chicken, dip it in the salsa or use it as a sort of "spoon". I can't really explain it.. I think it's a Mexican thing.

I will say that that stuff gives you gas... daaaaamn!

Well, with the 3 piece meal that means more chicken for the extra tortilla as well ;). I guess I could do a side of tortillas.
But I may do dodgerchick's style... though that'd prevent me getting beans (and/or rice) in the tortilla as well ;).
I'll have to experiment.

Just make sure you tear enough of the tortilla to scoop the beans/rice and you'll be alright.
