For consoles, when do you think we will refer to them as current-gen? I would've thought that about a year ago after the Wii and PS3 came out we'd call them current-gen and the PS2, Xbox, and GC old-gen or past-gen systems.
Poll coming.

Already should be in my opinion.

When they stop maing shit for the curent generation consoles, the Next generation consoles BECOME the current generation.
Seems pretty straight forward to me?

Yeah I think when they stop with the PS2/Xbox games or we get wind of a new console in the pipeline that will become Next Gen.

I've always thought 'next gen' stays next gen until its userbase exceeds that of the prior generation of machines.
At the moment PS-2 is still far and away the largest active install base and so is imho still current gen.

The end of the PS2 being current gen was once God of War 2 came out. The last system selling game and now its done.

November 2006, after the Wii and PS3 came out.
It won't be next-gen until Xbox 720, PS4, Wii HD, or Dreamcast 2 are released.

I'd think that Guitar Hero is a pretty big seller for the PS2, but it's interesting that for the most part the Xbox and Gamecube are dead. People have moved on to the 360 and Wii which are two vastly different systems. On the other hand, the PS3 isn't the PS2 killer that the 360 and Wii have been to the Xbox and GC. I'd say that we're in the Current Generation of consoles with two out of three supplanting their predecessors.
