Just got back from taking my 8 year old daughter to see Santa at the mall. For some strange reason, I loved it this year. In line forever, but watching people is just so much fun. Watching how small kids react to Santa is hilarious as well. The super stiff, won't even bend her arms girl. The automatic criers. The 4 year old who is actually rolling his eyes in annoyance at the whole thing.

Best Santa I have seen in a long time as well. Real, long white beard. Very easy going guy who when he took a break it was only to stretch his legs and he spent the time walking through the line talking to the kids waiting to see him.

I spent a ton of time before we went trying to get my daughter to ask him for a Red Ryder BB Gun. She refused to do it though, even though I told her he has to know what it means and she could even say I wanted her to ask for it. She still said she wouldn't do it. So when she was done with the pictures I walked up to them and asked her if she asked for a Red Ryder BB Gun. He automatically said, looking at her, "What? Are you crazy kid you will shoot your eye out!"

I am pretty sure that made my Christmas more then anything else for some reason.:D

I miss taking my son to see Santa...he never really got into it, we went for the first 3 or 4 Christmases and then he just didn't want to go anymore. But I loved the atmosphere of it more than the actual time he was on Santa's lap...the kids who were into it had the greatest looks on their little faces.

Merry Christmas!

My favorite Santa moment with my daughter came when she was about 4 or 5. We saw a Santa on the street ringing a bell, blah blah blah. I asked her if she wanted to say hi to Santa... She replied, "That's not really Santa." When I asked her why she thought that, her reply was "Because he's black. Santa is white!" I then used logic to blow that up. I mentioned how she has been to the malls and saw lots of white Santas, and asked if they were all the same guy. She said no, so I told her how all those white Santas were obviously imposters... How do we know that the real Santa isn't black, and those white Santas are just covering up the truth.

She got all excited... "HI SANTA!!!" It was beautiful. :)

Oh yeah, know it well. They have been doing it for years on that channel. We have it on DVD though, so we should be covered.

I have alot of the Christmas classics on DVD but, there just seems to be something wrong with putting in the DVD and watching it. I don't know.. I just like surfing through the channels and seeing the Christmas Story or the Grinch just on as opposed to just putting the DVD in.

My 7-year old understands that mall Santas are "fake", but he still believes. We've been checking out NORAD's Santa-Tracker tonight, and we'll put out milk and cookies.

I can't believe he still believes at age 7, but I know he's not b.s.ing us. He actually cleaned our family room today because he didn't want it to look messy for Santa.

I've gotta think this is the last year that he'll believe, so I'm going to treasure tonight and tomorrow. :)

My daughter is 8 and she still believes. I am pretty surprised but then again she doesn't go to school with a bunch of kids who would be telling her he is not real so that kind of explains it I guess. She has known for a couple years mall Santa's are fake, bugt still buys the Santa helper thing I guess. This Santa at the mall was great though so maybe she thought that was him this time.

I was surprised because we were watching/listening to something a couple weeks ago that came right out and said Santa wasn't real. She never said a thing either way. Maybe she is just going along for our sakes? :D

A few weeks back, my daughter (7 1/2) wanted us to come clean and we did. After repeated warnings that she may not want to know, she kept insisting. I could see the disappointment in her eyes as it dawned on her that we were telling her the truth. Huge moment as the real world starts sinking into her head.

But part of her loves being part of the club that "gets" the whole Santa thing and she enjoys keeping up the game for the little ones.

We took our 7 year old, our 3 year old, and the 9 month old cousin to see Santa a few days ago and it was pretty cool. The younger ones sat on his lap and Larissa stood on the side and they all took pictures. When the little ones got off, Larissa was quick to tell him what she wanted... a bell from his sleigh :)
