View Full Version : Anyone else cursed by their spouse?

So I'm somewhat dominating a wildcard playoff game. I had just played this team at the end of the regular season, without my stud QB (injured/rated 82), for the division lead. I lost 16-17. So in theory I should come out ahead of this one.

It's 30 degrees and snowing. Passes aren't going all that well, so I'm crushing them on the ground. I'm ahead 9-3 with 2:30 left to play, outgaining them in yards 320 to 98. I had just punted the ball, and they have it on their own 20. The game is pretty much a lock: my defense is rated #1 against the pass and overall, and top 10 in most categories. We start to celebrate on the sideline.

Then my wife comes home from work, and sits down on the bed next to the computer. Disaster strikes.

The CPU then goes on a 3 play, 80 drive for a TD. They completed 2 bombs into double-coverage 4 deep zone to a 4th level WR at best who is injured and rated 22 at bigplay with a QB who is 10 at deep passing (I gotta call BS/comeback code on that one). I end up losing.

Anyone with similar stories?

I ended up not saving and replaying the game since I got jobbed (I won 34-24 after my wife left the room, but she returned for a bit, and I turned the ball over 3 times, including a 68 yard fumble returned for a TD). I ended up telling her to leave the room because she is cursed.

Yes, I believe wives are capable of emitting a type of negative electronic aura that can affect certain computer processing that meets with their disapproval, such as game playing. Some have learned to harness this power, focusing and intensifying it to terrifying degrees. If your wife is one of those, consider yourself lucky that she only caused your sudden defeat rather than frying your computer altogether.

Greater than the importance of winning is league integrity or lack of one.

Yours has none. Shame on you.:)

Well, I think of it this way. I really did lose the game. But 20 years later, a man named Sam Beckett comes along, and sets right where once went wrong. So the refs, who were on the take, get talked out of ruining the game for us, and giving up their drug addictions. :D

Not to worry though, fate jacked my ass the very next game. I was down 10-14 and driving (Miami):
